| After a long process I have recently got a job with Anne Arundel County Fire Department. When I found out, Lisa was the first person I called. I think she was almost as excited as I was. She called all around to anne arundel county fire departmentsand got me a AA Co Fire shirt and a cool pin as a way of saying "way to go!" I was so surprised!! I love it! I start my new job September 9th (thursday). The 9th and 10th are actually orientation days then the 13th I will actually start. Thats when the hell begins! What is really weird is, thats my moms b-day. Its gonna be tough but I know that she would want me to go through with this and do the best that I can. I know that I will have her support 100% through out the academy. I think doing something that I love so much on her birthday will make it a lil easier. Mollie also got me a gift for starting the academy. It's a bag that will hold a bunch of bathroom stuff, or atleast thats what she uses hers for. Everytime I would see hers I would want one. But now I have one and love it!! Jodi also got me a lil fire truck well it s kinda big but it was filled with beautiful flowers. I cn use the truck after the flowers die for something else or just to sit around. |

| I graduated the academy April 29th!!! They shipped me to Guam, Im stationed in Shady Side, Maryland, It's south county. Its not to bad but man is it a hike!!!!! Because Im the low man (or woman) I get shipped all around. I've been to Deale, Harwood Lothian, Galesville, Riva. If its in south county Ive prally been there. I've got to see alot of awesome stuff and get GREAT experience. Its so nice being on shift work. Right now we work 24hrs on then 48hrs off, soon the county will be 24 on then 72 off, I can't wait!. Come September the county is paying for me to complete my paramedic so thats more $$ in my pocket. Not only are they paying for me to go they are paying me to go. I can't pass up that deal. Work is going great!!! I got to fly in a MSP HELICOPTER with a trauma patient. I have got to see and do so much. On a regular basis I get to start IV's, give medications, view patients heart rhythms on a monitor and treat accordingly, do consults with doctors for certain orders, treat trauma patients, and when someone is in cardiac arrest- I get to intubate the patient and administer medications.......A few shifts back I got a cool shooting and had to take care of a multiple gun shot victim. Thank god I had a volunteer background, who knows what I would be doing without that. |
