MY FOND MEMORIES OF MARGARET LEISHER Miss Margaret & I met where I worked (Hollinswood Deli), somewhere between 1988-1990. She use to run in to get a fountain soda everyday. We'd talk & talk & talk. It was so funny because she always said "I have got to pee". However, she could not stop talking to get to the bathroom & would have to make a run for it!! I remember going to her house for dinner & hanging out with Miss Margaret & the girls. All of a sudden I had an instant family. I was at Miss Margarets house every day. A lot of days it was breakfast, lunch, & dinner. We would stay up all night playing scrabble or the girls & I played nintendo. Sometimes we were out chasing police cars, fire trucks, & ambulances all hours of the night. Every morning Miss Margaret would fix scrapple(one of my favorites), eggs, fried potatoes, and whatever the girls or I would want. Of course that was after she had to yell for a while to get all of us girls out of bed so we could eat before she went to work. I remember going to Dover Elevator to goof off and many of Lauras' soccer & softball games. I was so shocked that I was invited to go to Ocean City just shortly after we met. Of course we had a blast, there I also met some of Miss Margarets' close friends. Somehow I was quickly part of her family. Every year at 3 o'clock we sat down at Miss Margarets diningroom table for Thanksgiving dinner. Every year got to be more fun then the last. I think it was one of Miss Margarets' favorite holidays because she LOVED to cook & did it well!! Two of my favorite recipes from Miss Margaret are the cracker baked pork chops & the manicotti. Fortunately, my family loves it too. I remember on my 18th birthday Miss Margaret had a suprise party for me & it was great too. Unfortunately one of my friends walked through her screen door & that was something we alwayes remembered & laughed about too. After I became a mother myself & married, I didn't get to spend as much time with Miss Margaret, Lisa, & Laura. Luckily we still remained close. Fortunately Rick & Lauren knew Miss Margaret well. Katelyn was starting to come around especially if Miss Margaret had a bag of M&M's in the house for her. Ricky was comfortable yet shy & rotten with Miss Margaret too. Miss Margaret was my dearest friend & like another mother to me & like a grandmother to my children(especially Lauren). I'll never forget our long talks, her advise, stories about her family & friends. I'll never forget the fun times we had: playing scrabble, listening to telephone conversations on her scanner, a couple trips to Ocean City(her favorite place),going to Apple Festival, just shooting the breeze on her back deck, & the holidays, particularly Thanksgiving Day. We had a lot of great memories. Miss Margaret was part of my family & will always have a special place in my heart. She is missed very very dearly and she will never be forgotten. All my love, Jodi |
