Watercolor Painting Class April 29, 2003.

One of the students asked how to paint  a glass vase with flowers, so I decided to talk about what to look for when painting a glass object.

Glass is transparent. Colored glass has less transparency then clear glass. We try to catch the highlights, the shadows and the background colors showing through the glass when we paint a picture of glass.

Bring glass objects to class. It  can be bottles, vases, drinking glasses or something else. If you have some cut flowers or ornamental grass to put in a vase, it would make a good painting.

Brushes in a glass and a bottle.
