Watercolor class February 13, 2003.

Bring small rocks and pebbles, if you have any, for the still-life.

On my walks I collect pebbles, feathers, shells, anything that I can use for a still-life. The painting on the upper right is an unfinished painting I expect to finish in time to Thursday's class.

Lately I have used an Arches hot pressed watercolor paper. Thursday, I shall bring it to class for anybody who wants explore it. The hot pressed paper is very smooth and has an unforgiving surface. The cold pressed or rough paper allows corrections of mistakes, scrubbing and other abuses of the paper.

The paper for the rocks and the tulips are both on hot pressed paper.

A photo of small rocks and a feather.

The pebbles are from the garden and the feather is from the beach.

Tuesday class has tulips as a subject. I am still working on this painting for Tuesday's class.
