Watercolor Painting Class Thursday March 6, 2003.

I used Arches HP watercolor paper for the painting. For my demonstration in the class I'll use Arches CP paper.

Bring in pictures of sandpipers or other shore birds.

Sandpipers on the beach Watercolor washes are the foundation of watercolor painting.

I turned the paper upside down. I moistened the paper with a brush loaded with clean water.

I made a puddle of blue and brown colors on my palette, enough to cover the paper. I started at the top of the paper and worked fast.
