This piece is a story Lija and I worked on in IM for a quite a while. I converted it to third person from chat format so any grammar errors are mine.
Things established in Role Play IM’s with various characters that you might need to know:
Noah had been having me guarded because some wandering spirits made some disturbing prophecies including one that predicted I will become infected at some point. Thanks to Luna he just discontinued the guards. She talked some sense into him. Luna is also a wereleopard guard as well as my soul sister.
Luna is the Oya, the Gatekeeper of the dead. A few months ago, she formed a mental link with me during a crisis we have never been able to sever. We can often feel each other’s emotions and since our latest experiment, even share visuals and thoughts at times. The latest experiment involved seeing how fully we could merge. It resulted in me sharing her beast metaphysically for a time. Now I am connected to her beast and a small bit of it stayed behind. Not enough to make me shift, but enough to make life interesting. Major effects include my eyes becoming silver when I am upset or overly excited, I have a frequent need for touch or contact with others, once in a while the bit of beast will come out as purr or a growl without me even realizing I’m doing it. We were able to use Luna’s restorative powers to touch on the beast left inside me once before to heal a bruise but we don’t know if that will carry over to serious injuries or not.
As the Gate, I have voices from beyond encroaching on my mind, which I cannot completely control. Among those, are the voices of the Ancients, the First Druids. One spirit in particular, Arianna is closely associated with me from that time frame. I seem to be a bridge between realities but I haven’t learned to control that function yet, to impact the various realities I can touch.
Lija and I have determined we were someone connected in the time of the Ancients, connected souls reunited in this time to fight some evil that threats our community. Luna is also called to this battle, as is Noah. We recently found out he is the Key to my Gate and Luna’s Gatekeeper. He is charged with protecting us.
I am the local research scientist and MD studying were medicine in my spare time with Lillian and running a lab for JC if you didn’t know.
Elijah is a Druid and Tore who recently came to town looking for an old friend.
If you don’t know, a Tore is Lord of Beasts, he can shift to all the big cats
as well as wolf. Lija is somewhat of a loner, not wanting to join either the
Pard or the Pack here in St Louis. He has something of tough guy rep he seems
to enjoy maintaining. He seems to have a soft spot for Maggie who he has
befriended since coming to town. He’s done all kinds of nice things to make her
feel special, bringing her flowers, a rooftop dinner, even a fantastic night
out on the town he planned with Noah’s permission.
