TOPICS FOR PAPERS

CORRECTIONAL SYSTEMS

The following is a list of topics for the research paper for this class. It is not an exhaustive list but will hopefully give you some ideas. You will need to get the topic approved by me before you begin if you choose a topic not on this list. The paper must be at least 7 word processed or typewritten pages, double spaced with one-inch margins. You will need a title page and a works cited page. You must use MLA or APA style to document your research. For guidelines on MLA style go to http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Oracle/4184/Research_Site.html.A new source I discovered recently helps you create the both MLA and APA citations very easily. Go to Citation Machine. If you need help in writing a research paper go to Writing a Research Paper. This site also has links to various citation styles including the APA. Here is another site that I have found helpful for APA APA Style Essentials . Citing Web Pages in APA Style . or better yet, attend the research certificate classes. The paper is due by December 1, 2006.

This is a research paper meaning that you have read relevant material primarily from journals and books (other than the textbook and encyclopedias. You must cite your references in the main body of the paper and you must have a bibliography at the end. Failure to cite your references will result in a significant deduction from your grade. You also cannot plagiarize. See the school policy regarding plagiarism.

Since this is a research paper, and not a position paper, do not include your opinions and do not use personal pronouns such as "I", "we" and "you".
