January 6, 2009: Welcome to the Crime in America web site for Palo Alto students. Access this site regularly to receive important information including outlines for notetaking, quizzes and announcements about class schedules, assignments, etc. Email me at Steve Mardock if you have any questions.

January 21, 2009: I have added the notes for the second half of chapter one that is not in your book. We will be going over this tomorrow. Here is a link to the Texas Statutes you will need later in the class: http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/

January 28, 2009: Quiz 1 is now ready to print. The quiz needs to be turned in on Tuesday or Thursday next week for credit. In class tomorrow you will be working on the first group project. One of your group members should bring a laptop.

February 1, 2009: Tuesday each group do their presentation that you worked on last week. With time remaining, we will begin work on the next exercise out of chapter 2.

February 19, 2009: There will be no quiz this week. Quiz 3 will be available on Tuesday next week. During class on Tuesday the groups will be presenting on chapter 3.

February 25, 2009: Quiz 3 is ready to print and it needs to be turned in next week. Remember that there is no class tomorrow (2/26). You should read chapter 6 on social structure theories for class on Tuesday.

March 6, 2009: Quiz 4 is now ready to print. It is due the week after spring break. On Tuesday, March 24, we will start the review of the social process theories and you should read chapter 7. Have a great spring break.

March 19, 2009: Quiz 5 is now ready to print. It needs to be turned in by next Thursday, March 26. Remember that the prison tour is scheduled for March 24 and you will need to meet me at the Dominguez at 9am. See you then.

April 9, 2009: Quiz 6 and 7 is now posted and is due next week. On the 14th I will be covering the last of the crime theories. You need to be prepared to take good notes since what I am presenting is not in the book.

April 17, 2009: Quiz 8 is now ready and needs to be turned in next week. Groups will continue to present next week. As a reminder points are deducted if you do not attend class during the next two weeks.

April 30, 2009: Quiz 9 and 10 is now available. You can either send it via email or drop it by my office. It is due no later than Thursday, May 7.

Go to Citation Machine. If you need help in writing a research paper go to Writing a Research Paper. This site also has links to various citation styles including the APA.
