Slaying Demons. Rating:R Author:suzyh Disclaimer: I don't own the guys, I do own Annie though. He moved into the bedroom, the lights were dim but he could make out a tall figure bending over the bed. Annie lay in a twisted heap, her neck at a funny angle, her eyes wide and staring. Anguish tore at his gut as he pulled the tall man round to face him, silver eyes and his mirror image stared back. Darien awoke with a shout. Annie jumped and woke up too. Darien hugged her to him and rubbed his hand over his hair. Annie wriggled away and looked concerned. "Again?" Darien nodded. Annie sighed, this was the fifth time this week he had had disturbing dreams and they all featured her dead in some way. She stroked his face. "It's okay, deep breaths, I'm right here." Darien reached for her again and kissed a trail from her neck to her mouth, pushing her down on the bed. One hand curved around her breast while the other caressed the rest of her body. Annie moaned against his mouth, Darien always made love to her after one of these dreams, it was his way of slaying the demons, she didn't care, it was always a mind blowing experience for both of them. She made a mental note to get her levels checked in the morning. They were just getting serious when the telephone started to ring. "Ignore it." Darien continued to kiss down Annie's body, God, he needed her, Annie whimpered and arched slightly under his touch. The ringing went on and on until finally Annie snatched the receiver up. "GO AWAY!" She hung up and flung the whole unit across the room. Darien smiled at her and continued his caresses to her body, until she was gasping for breath and pulling at him. Much later, Darien was sleeping peacefully around his wife. Annie had passed out after the third escapade and was lying almost on top of Darien. Loud knocking disturbed their slumber. "Open up Fawkes!" Bobby's voice came through the door. Darien groaned and rolled Annie off him. She mumbled something and sat up bleary eyed. Darien pulled on his pyjama bottoms and opened the door, a very angry Bobby strode in. "You know, I don't appreciate getting up and hot footing it across town to check up on you." Darien blinked. "Uh Hobbes? It's three am, be more specific." Bobby glared, then took in Annie, the bed and the state of Darien. His anger turned to amusement. "Oh. Umm, Let me guess, you were here all night occupied?" Annie quickly covered herself with the sheet and blushed. Darien gestured for Bobby to sit down. "What's going on?" "The Official received a call saying you were up to your old tricks. Naturally, he gets Eberts to check up." "Why didn't anyone phone to confirm where he was?" Bobby cleared his throat. "They did halfpint, they were told to go away." "Oh." Annie bit her lip. "So what does this mean?" "Apart from me being woken up and told to get my ass over here to check Fawkes out?" Annie nodded. Bobby shrugged. "You got me. Any number of people could have made that call. Fatman wants us in his office first thing. Well, as you are alive Penelope, I am going back to my wife and child. Have fun kiddies." Bobby swaggered off out the door closing it softly behind him. Annie gave Darien a confused look. "Penelope?" Darien snuggled back down beside her and pulled her down onto his chest. The Official glared at everyone. Eberts nervously fiddled with the file he was holding, Bobby was yawning and Darien was stirring his coffee really loudly. Annie came into the room with a box of cookies. Eberts poked his nose inside. "There are no Coffee ones Annie." Annie thumped the box on the table and glared. She plonked herself down next to Bobby. The Official finally spoke. "When I get information as to the possible illegal exploits of my most valuable agent, I expect to be able to get in touch, I don't expect Eberts to be subjected to abuse." Darien looked inside the goody box. "Awww, Annie there's no chocolate cookies." Annie picked up the box and hurled it at Darien's head. He ducked just in time as the box hit the far wall. Bobby stood up and took her arm. Annie whirled round and lifted her hand to strike him. Bobby caught it neatly and held her fast. Suddenly, Annie's expression turned from fierce to horrified. "Oh dear, I'm sorry everyone. I guess I should go see Claire." The Official grunted, Bobby let her go and she made her way to the Keep. Claire looked in horror at Annie's levels. "They're almost at maximum, what on earth are you two playing at?" "Darien's been having bad dreams, that, well, comforts him." "Stop comforting him Annie, or you'll be silver eyed before you know it." Annie sighed. Easier said than done. Claire gave her a stern look. "No sex for a week, I mean it, you have to let these levels subside." Annie nodded and got up. She walked out of the keep and back to her desk. Darien was waiting for her. "So, what's the verdict?" "You get to be a monk for a week. What did the boss say?" "Basically that he thinks someone was yanking his chain for fun. Oh, and that you need to work on your phone manner." Annie grimaced. Eberts came out of the office and approached Annie nervously. "Could you possibly take this down to the archives?" "Sure Ebes, don't look so scared, I don't bite." Darien grinned at Eberts who blushed slightly. Annie turned to Darien. " I'll see you later." Annie swayed off down the hall. Eberts looked at Darien. "She's scary." Darien laughed and put his hand on Eberts shoulder. "Yes, yes she is." Later that evening, Darien and Annie were playing backgammon before they were due over at Bobby and Claire's for dinner. The phone rang, Annie answered. "Bobby? What's wrong? Oh no, what type of accident? How's Claire? Okay, we'll be right there." Annie grabbed her jumper. "Nicole's fallen down the stairs, she's at the hospital, Bobby wants us to come and sit with Claire." Darien jumped up and grabbed his keys looking concerned. He hoped Nicole was okay. They parked easily and made their way to the hospital entrance. A van pulled up as they were about to cross the road, doors opened and strong arms grabbed Annie and Darien. They were inside and restrained before they knew what was going on. Darien was thrown into a room full of spiders. He yelled and quicksilvered immediately. He was kept there for three hours whilst the spiders crawled over him and he was shouting to be let out. In that time he went from logical Darien to stage four madman. His shot was due the next day but all the fear had tipped his levels over the edge. Suddenly, gas came through the vents. Darien collapsed and passed out. The door opened and Arnaud came in the room grinning like the devil. "Reunite him with his wife. This should be interesting." Annie sat on the floor of her room. She was really angry and her aggression level was rising. The door opened and Arnaud appeared. Annie tutted and rolled her eyes. "I should have guessed, what do you want this time?" "Just the pleasure of seeing you darling, oh and seeing your husband suffer of course. I must say, I've never seen you so aggressive, it becomes you." Annie stood up. "Want to see how aggressive I can be? Come on over here." Arnaud smiled. " I'll leave that pleasure to Fawkes. Incidently, he's in stage four, so I don't expect you to last long. You see, if I can't have you then neither can Fawkes and he gets to kill you and feel guilty afterwards. Don't you just love the irony of that?" Two men carried Darien into the room and laid him on the floor. Arnaud waved. "I'll be watching the show. Goodbye my love." The door closed and Darien stirred. Annie backed up a step as red eyes opened and fixed on her. He got to his feet and gazed at her. "Well, Annie, fancy meeting you here. Tell me are you scared yet?" Chapter Two. Annie raised an eyebrow and folded her arms. She was in the mood to provoke Darien so she did. "Just catching up with Arnie. He's so charming don't you think? Handsome too." Red eyes narrowed. Annie gave him her sweetest smile and turned her back on him. Strong arms grabbed her and twisted her round. "Catching up? What do you have to catch up on?" "Wouldn't you like to know? Let me go or you'll regret it." Darien shook his head and grinned. Annie planted her knee in his stomach and he winced with pain. She twisted free and went to kick him again. He caught her leg and jerked it so she landed on the floor. Darien went after her like a man possessed, Annie kicked and scratched at his face and body defending herself, giving as good as she got, attacking him like a hellcat. She scrambled to her feet, Darien caught her and slapped her across the face. She landed on the floor and was still. Darien walked up to her and nudged her with his foot. He bent down and turned her over. Annie lurched up and headbutted him. Darien laughed and pinned her to the floor not even bothered by the cuts and bruises she had inflicted. Annie glared at him and he smirked at her. Behind the glass Arnaud smiled. This was it, he would kill her now. Instead, Darien captured Annie in a kiss. She hesitated then wrapped her arms and legs around him and kissed him back, straining against his body. As Arnaud watched, Annie began ripping and clawing at Darien's back, Darien let out a deep moan that sounded like an animal calling to it's mate. Annie broke the kiss and exposed her neck to Darien's mouth arching her body beneath him. It was the most primal thing Arnaud had ever seen. They disappeared from sight depriving Arnaud of his show. One hour later, Arnaud had switched the speakers off as the sounds from the room had become too much for him to listen to. They were still invisible, not letting up for a minute. He played with the voice digitiser that he had used to mimic Bobby's voice. He looked at his watch, the madness must give Fawkes incredible stamina, he got up and left his room, they weren't going anywhere for the time being and it was time to let Hobbes into the game. Bobby was pacing up and down the Officials office. Annie and Darien had not shown up for dinner. He had called and had got no response. Alarm bells had started to ring and he had called into the Agency. Eberts had found Fawkes' car at the hospital but no trace of the couple after that. Bobby's cell rang. "Ahh, Hobbes, I just thought I should let you know that your partner will be murdering his wife shortly. If you want to find and claim her body come to this address." Arnaud gave the information then hung up. Bobby streaked out the door. Chapter Three. Darien was sitting on the floor by Annie's body when he returned. He stared through the glass looking directly at Arnaud, his eyes silver. Annie was lying with her head turned away but she looked limp. Darien had covered her body with his shirt and he was just wearing his pants. Arnaud smiled and reached for the counteragent. "Well done Fawkes, now you get your morals back." Arnaud carefully entered the room, Darien made no attempt to get to him as he circled round to examine Annie. Arnaud gently pulled the cover back and found himself looking into a pair of angry silver eyes. "Merde!" was all he got out before Annie grabbed the syringe and Darien struck him from behind. He came round to find both of them fully dressed and in stage five. "Arnie! Good you're awake, Darien? Can I hurt him now?" "Not yet Titch, he's got to be taught a lesson first." Annie went to stand behind Arnaud leaning to whisper in his ear. "Who do you want to do it? Me or him?" She placed her hands either side of his head and tipped his head from side to side as if testing the strength of his neck. Darien shook his finger at her. "Annie? What did I say? You must be patient." "Screw patience, I want to hurt him, now." Arnaud took in Darien's almost relaxed posture and the homicidal energy that was Annie. Darien seemed the most reasonable of the two. "Fawkes? We can work together, we can..." Annie kicked him in the small of his back and cuffed his ears. "I've had enough of this. He dies. Right now." Darien came inbetween her and Arnaud. Annie glared up at him prepared for a fight. Darien stroked her face then moved his hands to her neck squeezing. He lifted her up slightly so her feet were off the floor. "Annie? I said I would deal with this. Be a good girl or I will hurt you." Annie was choking and going red, Darien put her down and she backed away rubbing her throat. Fawkes turned back to Arnaud. "I want counteragent, the formula for stage five and anything else you got. Then, I'm gonna kill you." "Not if I have anything to do with it my friend." Bobby's voice came from the open door. Arnaud thought he would never be so glad to see Hobbes as he was right then. Annie shimmied over to the older man. "Well, Bobby, so nice of you to join us. Darien? I bet you didn't know that Bobby and I sucked face." Darien gave her an annoyed glance. Bobby sensed trouble. Annie continued to goad. "Yes, how does it feel lover? To know that your partner got some first?" Darien strode over to her and picked her up again. He slammed Annie into the wall and glared down at her. Annie was laughing madly and trying to get at him. "It was good too, he's a real man if you know what I mean?" "Shut up, you little bitch. You're mine do you understand? I'll kill you before anyone else touches you." Darien suddenly sagged against her. Bobby had grabbed the counteragent and had got him plum on his neck. Annie let Darien drop to the floor and faced Bobby grinning. "So, stud. Fancy a rematch?" "Sure, come on over." Annie smiled and moved over to Bobby. She was grabbed and twisted so her arms were behind her back. "Sorry halfpint, I'm a one woman guy." Annie struggled to no avail. She saw Arnaud sneak out of the room and make a run for it. She howled in protest, but Bobby didn't let her go. He saw Arnaud make his exit but right now it was more important to contain Annie. Darien groaned and started to stir. Annie lashed out with her foot trying to hurt her husband. Bobby was having a hard time holding her as she was wriggling so much. Finally, with much apology, Bobby let her go and punched her out. He caught Annie as she fell and laid her gently on the floor. Epilogue Annie woke up with a sore jaw and a woolly head. In fact, she ached all over, she glanced around and recognised lab two. "This place is becoming my second home." "Ah, good, nice to see you awake. How do you feel?" "Claire?" "The one and only." Annie sat bolt upright. "Nicole, oh god, is she okay?" Claire eased her back down. "She's fine. Arnaud I'm afraid, a lure to get you where he wanted you." Annie relaxed. Thank god for that. "Darien?" "Oh, he's fine, I had to throw him out in the end." Claire studied Annie closely. She seemed to remember nothing, which was probably just as well. Darien was drawing a blank on the events and Bobby could only fill in what he had seen. Annie was testing her jaw movement. "Wow, what did I hit?" "Umm, Darien is in the same shape, bruises, cuts and a nasty set of scratches on his back. Not to mention bite marks all over his neck." Claire neglected to mention that Annie had teeth marks too. Annie looked wide eyed, "My God, what did Arnaud do to us?" Claire shrugged. "Maybe your memory will return, sometimes the mind blocks things out. Give yourself some time." Annie nodded. "Can you get Darien?" Claire smiled, patted Annie's arm and went in search of the other wounded soldier. Darien poked his head around the door minutes later. "Is it safe?" he whispered teasingly. Annie grinned and beckoned him in. "Wow. What happened to you?" Annie rubbed Darien's neck gently. "Hmmm. Look at this titch." Darien got a mirror and showed Annie the state of her neck. She winced and examined the marks. "I remember fighting with you." she said softly,"I didn't tell Claire, I didn't want you to have anymore tests." Darien nodded. "Same here. Annie..I'm sorry...You know I would never hit you if I was sane." "Shh, I know. Let's keep this our secret shall we?" Annie touched Darien's forehead with her own. Darien rubbed noses with her and they made a silent agreement to never discuss what happened again. The End.
