Jacob Lester died at his home in Port Dickinson, June 28, 1947, just four days after he celebrated his 100th birthday. He was born June 24, 1847 son of John and Mary Ann (Rogers) Lester, enlisted in the army Sept. 17, 1863 and retired after serving in the Dakota Territory Feb. 3, 1897. He married Lucinda Bishop who died May 23, 1930 age 82 years.
