Updated October 2nd 1997If you want to send me a note/comment/cheque, or know of any good links for cars featured on this site, please email direct to Ray Green... DRIVERCAR & CATEGORYCategory 2 - Jaguar XJ12 Series 1 saloon, 5300cc V12. This will be the car's first entry in a series, though it does have a competition history. It is one of 720 built byJaguar Cars British Leyland UK Ltd. It was previously owned by Wayne Perkins in Queenstown and raced by him for 8 years. It scored many successes and many circuit records. The car has since been de-modified and is very close to standard factory trim. It only has modifications to camshafts, carburettor needles, exhaust mufflers, front springs, front roll bar (sway bar) and additional safety items. It uses a stock 3 speed auto gearbox and runs on unleaded 96 petrol. WHERE BORNAuckland NZ
OCCUPATIONOrchestral Musician (French Horn)/Orchestra Manager ENTRANT/SPONSORJOHN URE YEAR'S IN ACTIVE MOTORSPORT - 27This will be John's first year with this Jaguar. Since 1987, John has run a very quick Jaguar Mk II and also a MK7. You could say that John likes his Jaguars! John first campaigned an Austin A30 and then a Mini 7. INTERESTS OTHER THAN RACING (if any...)Playing the French Horn ALL TIME FAVOURITE RACING CAR/DRIVERPeter Brock - a much respected Australian driver, who at one time, raced an Austin A30 - but considerably modified. Peter announced his retirement would take effect from the end of the 1997 season. Known by his fans as "Peter Perfect". Best known for his association with Holdens. John also admires Stirling Moss - particularly for his racing associations with Mk 7 Jaguars! WAFFLEJohn has overtaken my Marcos more than once and possesses superior race craft. He beat me by a car's length in a handicap a couple of seasons ago. I wonder if the horns on his Jaguars are French? Other valid links - mainly to do with the series & NZ
