A Work In Progress
I am a Native American born, fourth generation Japanese. In the past, I have struggled with issues relating to identity and sexuality.. I have tried to define an identity in which I am very much an American on the inside, but externally, I am still foreign looking to the casual observer. More importantly, I have struggled  with the concept of American masculinity and mating rituals..

The effect on my art is that it has tended to focus on the underlying anger and resentment from my child through early adulthood. My strokes tend to be uncontrolled and filled with an energy that belies my calm exterior..

While some artists have focused on abstract work, most of my work is based in figure drawing and it has been a continuing pursuit to become more proficient at it. When I draw, I usually draw people. This isn?t something planned??ut it has become a reflex to me. I started with faces and have expanded to being able to draw the whole body with somewhat decent proportions.

I tend to draw various subject matter, but my focus has been on figure drawing; the emotions and meaning behind a gesture or a smile.
