Traveling and Accommodation in Myanmar

Making of Visa

1.        Business visa costs S$65 each.

2.        Requires official letter of invitation from Burmese hosts.

3.        3 passport size photographs.

4.        Bring along receipt to collect visas.

Flight

1.    Myanma airways: S$450 - 480 for a return ticket.

2.    Flies only on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

3.    Singapore to Yangon:

a.    Departure time: 1.20pm Singapore time.

b.    Arrival time: 3.00pm Yangon time.

4.    Yangon to Singapore:

a.    Departure time: 8.00am Yangon time.

b.    Arrival time: 12.00pm Singapore time.

5.    Need to call to confirm flight 3 days before departure from Yangon.

Airport

1.    No sharp objects in hand luggage.

2.    US$2,000 above has to be declared.

3.    Departure: US$10 tax.

Accommodation in Yangon:

1.        Place: Mahasantisukha Buddha Sasana Center (MSBSC)

2.        Description: rooms with single beds, wardrobes and bathrooms.

3.        Food and transport within Yangon will be provided.

Accommodation in Bilin:

1.        Place: Village hall and monastery of Daukyat village can accommodate up to 20 people.

2.        Description: open-air shelter with no doors or windows, wooden planks, mattresses and pillows.

3.        No enclosed bathrooms, villagers usually bathe in the open using water from well.

4.        Food will be provided.

Transport and travel:

1.     Mini-bus to be arranged by Mahasantisukha.

2.     Time of travel from Yangon to Bilin: 4hr.

3.     Road condition is generally good.

4.     Military check-points along the way shouldn’t be bothersome.

5.    Rainy season in June: village may be flooded and have to be traversed by sampan.
