Notes

We flew these rockets with my sister, Suzanne, and her two sons, Lee and Paul. The boys seemed restless and bored.

My friend from work, Jimbo, and his son were flying kites nearby and got to enjoy the show.

This was the second flight of the Skywinder Rocket. This is an unusual design for a rocket in that it uses helicopter like blades to slow its descent instead of a parachute or streamer. This was the third flight of the morning.

Suzanne pressed the launch button after the all clear signal and countdown. The rocket took off and flew up and pointed slightly into the wind. The rocket gain altitude, but not much. It arched over after the engine stopped and headed for the ground nose first. It looked like a crash was coming until the blades deployed and slowed the descent. The wind buffeted the descending rocket, but the landing was successful.

A successful flight, but use a more powerful engine (C6-3) next time.
