Rocket Launch Notes
What Heatseeker Missile When June 16, 2001 10:47 AM Where GH Park Weather Mostly sunny skies, West wind, temp 70 Engine B6-4 Status Perfect Flight Other Second Flight Photo None Notes We flew these rockets with Mom, Uncle Harry, Aunt Evelyn, cousin Dianne, Jim, and Ashley. This was their first rocket flight.
This was the second flight of the Heatseeker Missile. This is an impressive looking rocket that is bright red and white and has a full set of decals that give it a real military look. This was the second flight of the day.
Ashley was still scared after the first launch. Uncle Harry pressed the launch button after the all clear signal and countdown. The rocket took off and flew up and pointed into the wind. The parachute deployed but not fully. Either it was not folded properly or it got tangled in the swivel that connects it to the nose cone. The wind carried it over our heads as it drifted down on its parachute and it enjoyed a safe landing in soft grass. Ashley retrieved the rocket for us.
Great flight.
