This was their first rocket flight.
This was the first flight of the Snitch Flying Saucer. This is a flying saucer that flies straight up, then turns over and glides back down. The large frontal area creates a lot of drag. It has neither streamer nor parachute. This was the first flight of the day.
Ashley pressed the launch button after the all clear signal and countdown. It launched with a great deal of smoke and motor noise and it flew slowly due to the drag. Ashley let out a great shreik as it frightened her. The Snitch turned over at the top and drifted back to Earth falling like a giant green snowflake. Discussion quickly turned to where it would land and everyone took a few steps to the side to get out of the way. It had a safe landing in the grass next to my Aunt's feet.
Great flight. Everyone had a big belly laugh when it was over, except Ashley.
