Rocket Launch Notes
What Fire Flash Rocket When August 13, 2000 Where GH Park Weather Clear, sunny skies, Light NW wind, temp 80, 2:00 PM Engine A8-3 Status First Flight Other Homemade Parachute Photo None Notes We flew these rockets with my sister's family. A good time was had by all. There were two other families flying rockets there that afternoon.
This was the first launch of the Fire Flash Rocket. This was the fifth flight of the afternoon. This rocket was the second rocket that I've assembled. This is a very long rocket that was difficult to store and I was worried about its ability to stay together in flight.
Suzanne pressed the launch button after the all clear signal and countdown. The rocket took off and went straight up. I thought that it might lift off slowly because of all the modeling clay in the nose cone and forward section of the rocket. The take off is as quick as any other and the rocket looks like a large dart or spear in flight. It is easy to see because of its size. The parachute deployed perfectly and the rocket was back on the ground quickly.
Great first flight!
