Marçal Aquino

Marçal Aquino was born in 1958 in Amparo, in the state of São Paulo. As a journalist, he has worked for the major newspapers: Gazeta Esportiva, O Estado de S.Paulo and Jornal da Tarde. He made his book debut in 1985 with a selection of poetry, but soon embarked on his new fast-paced urban prose. His several books include O Amor e Outros Objetos Pontiagudos (a collection of short stories and winner of the 2000 Jabuti Prize) and O Invasor, a novel. This was adapted for the cinema by the author, and was directed by Beto Brant, for whom Aquino wrote the screenplays of  "Os Matadores" and “Ação entre Amigos”. He has written several other screenplays, and is currently adapting his novel Cabeça a Prêmio for film.
