| I think I am going to start writing again. Sometimes I wonder about inspirations in life. What is it about certain elements that just carries us away-- makes us tear while the other does not. Is it life experiences? Are we all "blank pages" (as Locke put it) to be written upon by the actions of those around us? I think is is our reactions that are more important. Now the question arises: What causes those reactions? Is it genetic, something inherant and different in each core, body, mind and soul? Reactions are strange things. They are the very essence of who we are, they determine how we are judged by those that can only see the outside yet the cause and creation of them cannot be determined. It's ironic. The most important things in our lives are undefinable. Love, emotions, thoughts, soul, heart, compassion, justice, mercy, good, bad, real and fantasy. All are intangible, thus can never be perfectly defined. But can anything? Even the tangible things in life cannot be explained by mere language and words. A comforter on a bed could be defined as a "thick blanket, often used for decoration purposes" but that does not delve into what it truly is. It's warm, it has connotations of safety, coziness, and peace. These things, these connotations are as big a part of the comfortor as the tangible, recordable aspects but there is a difference. They change, they vary from person to person. Every person's different life experiences determine how they see an object. And now I've answered my own question. What causes reactions? It truly is the experiences we go through. Is it possible to break from these, especially the bad ones? Yes. But it takes talking, pinpointing of that which is the core and creating a new experience to help fade the bad. Sometimes we want happy memories to dissolve too, because of how painful the absence of that life can be. But everything good must be clung to. Every tear shed for love and love lost must be treasured and kept. Every tumultous emotion savored because it is that that lets us know we exist and because we exist we are able to see and discover all those wonderful, amazing, things that are so often walked by. People don't ignore the world because they are too busy to stop and awe in it. They ignore the world because that is how they know how to deal with it. They cannot handle how beautiful and ugly and sparkly and dull and soft and rough it can all be all at the same time. They would rather push it to the back of their minds than face everything that is waiting. The task is too big. What they don't know is that though the task is large, it's worth every second we're blessed by it. How can you think about who and what you are and not believe there to be a God? -Melissa Lynn |
