Hazelnut
I'd spent my life as a hazelnut
Hard shell, every door shut.
Nothing gor through, I was safe in that shell,
There was no one to trust; no one I could tell
All of my secrets, who'd tell me no lies--
Then you came along with you hazelnut eyes.

Their color pierced me, saw not my cover,
But me, as I was, and how truth seemed to hover
Just beyond reach, just beyond sight;
From the dark side of the moon you brought me to light.
Saw all my secrets, told me no lies--
My strength I found finally in you hazelnut eyes.

Oh, my shell is still on but it's cracking.
I've recieved what I knew had been lacking.
Through the dark slowly lined of white can be seen;
The heart of this hazelnut as it takes on a sheen.
No longer hiding secrets behind spiderweb lies--
The cobwebs were cleared by you hazelnut eyes.

Doors open, and though I know I am bare
To the love in those eyes and the depth of that stare,
I'll step through that arch with your hand in mine,
Our paths uncertain, yet true, intertwined.
Sharing all secrets, telling no lies--
I'm a hazelnut broken by love's hazelnut eyes.
