MISSION OF LOVE 2: ANNIVERSARY PARTY Part One One evening at the residence of Hajime Saitoh, Tokio and Saitoh were relaxing after dinner. Saitoh was reading the newspaper and Tokio was mending one of his uniforms. Tokio's back began to itch. "Dear, could you scratch my back please?" Without taking his eyes off the newspaper, Saitoh took out his sword and pointed it towards his wife's back. "Not with your sword!" scolded Tokio. "Use your hands!" Still, without removing his eyes from the paper Saitoh reached over and scratched his wife's back. "You could have at least removed your white gloves," complained Tokio. Saitoh kept reading his paper ignoring her. Tokio tried again to converse with her husband. "Dear, you know our anniversary is coming up soon. What would you like to do this year?" Saitoh bluntly replied, "The same thing we do every year, nothing." Tears began to form in Tokio's eyes. *sniff * sniff* "What's happening to us? You used to be so romantic. But now you are so... so cold. You don't even touch me anymore." Sniff, sniff. "What are you talking about? I just touched you yesterday," replied Saitoh. "Oh really? I don't recall you touching me yesterday," answered Tokio. "What do you mean you don't recall? Don't you remember when I shoved you out of the way of that runaway horse and carriage? I used both hands didn't I?" Tokio became furious. She snatched the newspaper from his hands, ripped it in half and threw it on the floor. She stormed out of the room slamming the door. SLAM!! A vase fell on the floor. CRASH!! Saitoh sat with a confused look on his face. "What's with her today?" Then he looked down at his torn newspaper and became angry. "That woman! Why did she do that? I didn't get a chance to read the sports section. She really irks me at times!" Saitoh lit a cigarette and took a long draw. "I need to get rid of some of this anger. I think I'll stop by the Kamiya Dojo and kick around the Battousai for a little while. That always makes me feel better." Later that night, at the Kamiya Dojo, Kenshin and Kaoru were lying in their futon conversing. "What a busy day," said Kaoru. "That it was," replied Kenshin. "I saw Tokio today at the market. She seemed quite upset." "What a coincident. Saitoh stopped by the dojo today. He also seemed quite upset." "How could you tell?" asked Kaoru. "He's always appears upset to me." "Well, at first things started off pretty normal. His usual insults and threats followed by him kicking me into the laundry tub. I didn't suspect anything then. But when he challenged me to a fight and suddenly withdrew, now that's when I became suspicious." "I see." "I think I'll pay Saitoh a visit tomorrow to see if there is anything I could do to help." "That sounds like a good idea." Kaoru leaned over and kissed Kenshin. He returned her kiss while gently caressing her. "Oh Kenshin!" "Oh Kaoru!" "Oh brother! Will you two just get it over with! I'm trying to get some sleep in here!" Kaoru shrieked, "EEEK!" She quickly covered herself. Kenshin was puzzled, "Saitoh?" Then he shouted, "SAITOH!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY BED?!" "Well... uhm... Tokio is painting our bedroom again." "What he really means is that Tokio threw him out of the house again and that's exactly what I'm going to do right now." Kenshin grabbed his sword. "Kenshin! Stop!" Kaoru pulled him back. "Can't you see that Saitoh-san needs a friend right now? I think you should try to help him during his hour of need." "What about my needs? I was so close to getting some..." Kaoru blushed feverishly and yelled, "KENSHIN NO BAKA!!" Whack!! Kenshin went flying across the room. "Orooo!" "I'm going to sleep in Yahiko's room tonight," stated Kaoru. "You can stay here with Saitoh-san. Oyasumi nasai (Goodnight) anata." She kissed him on the cheek and walked toward the shoji (wooden door). Kenshin extended his arms out toward her while stammering,"But...But... Koishii..." Kaoru turned, gave him her sweetest smile and then slid the shoji closed. Kenshin sat staring at the door whimpering. Saitoh turned over and said, "Quit whimpering and go to sleep." Kenshin glared at him. "Oh, one more thing," said Saitoh, "have my breakfast ready at 5:00am sharp or else!" Kenshin grunted. Early the next morning Saitoh and Kenshin were in the kitchen. Kaoru walked in rubbing her eyes. "I see you two are up very early this morning." "That's because Saitoh likes to eat breakfast before the sun comes up," complained Kenshin. Kaoru giggled. Saitoh stood up and put his cap on. "Well, I'm going to work." He took his sword out and pointed it toward Kenshin. "Battousai, have my dinner ready at 6:00pm sharp or else!" He re-sheathed his sword and left. "We must to do something about Saitoh," grumbled Kenshin. "I know he is planning on staying with us for a long time." Kaoru gave Kenshin a puzzled look. She then asked, "What makes you think that?" "Because he gave me his dirty laundry and a list of meals to cook for him this week." "I see." "I think its' time we call everyone together," said Kenshin. Kaoru nodded her head in agreement. Kenshin pulled Kaoru closer to him, "But first, there is something more important we must do. Now, my sweet little rice cake, where were we last night?" Kaoru blushed and giggled. "Oh yes, I remember." Kenshin began kissing her. Suddenly he stopped. "Is anything wrong anata?" asked Kaoru "Hai. I just remembered something," replied Kenshin. Kaoru looked puzzled, "Nani?" ("What?") "Saitoh wants his dinner ready at 6:00pm sharp. I better get started preparing his meal." "Kenshin you idiot!" Kaoru playfully whacked him on the head. "Oroo!" One week later... Kenshin calls a meeting.
