Lynch

First Generation

DANIEL A. LYNCH was born June 12, 1830 in County Cork, Ireland, the son of MICHAEL LYNCH and MARGARET TOOMEY. Some time before 1857, Daniel married CATHARINE FORD, born in 1832 in Ireland, the daughter of DANIEL FORD and ELLEN MURPHY. On May 12, 1864, Daniel and Catharine arrived in New York from Ireland with their three children, Michael, Margaret and Ellen. The family settled in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

Daniel Lynch was a stonecutter by trade. He was employed by the city for a brief period in 1870's. In 1889, he erected the Celtic cross outside of Holy Name Church in Chicopee.


Second Generation

Children of DANIEL LYNCH and CATHARINE FORD:

1.   MICHAEL J. LYNCH was born 1857 in Co. Cork, Ireland. He married MARY T. CONNOR, who was born 1859, and died 1916. Micheal was an early graduate of Chicopee High School. He succeeded his father in the family stonecutting business. Michael served in several city positions--Superintendent of Streets and Assessor. He was a real estate developer and developed some of the Elms College area. Michael was Chairman of the Board of Assessors at the time of his death, on March 06, 1925. He was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Chicopee.

2.   MARGARET LYNCH was born 1862 in Co. Cork, Ireland. She married JOHN W. CASEY. Margaret died on February 26, 1937 in Chicopee.

3.   ELLEN E. LYNCH, b. 1864, Ireland; d. January 20, 1948, Chicopee, MA.

4.   HANNAH T. LYNCH, b. 1866, Massachusetts; d. July 29, 1942, Chicopee, MA.

5.   DANIEL J. LYNCH was born December 19, 1867 in Chicopee. He joined his father and brothers in the family business as a stonecutters. He married JOSEPHINE MITCHELL, who was born January 1870, and died January 1933. Daniel died on February 04, 1933 in Chicopee.

6.   THOMAS M. LYNCH was born on January 25, 1870 in Chicopee. He worked in the family business as a stonecutter. Thomas married SUSANNE A. GELO October 22, 1894 in Chicopee, MA, daughter of JOHN GELO and ELLEN LYONS. She was born March 1873 in West Springfield, MA, and died April 02, 1933 in Chicopee, MA. Thomas died on July 01, 1902 in Chicopee of tuberculosis. Thomas and Susanne are buried in Calvery Cemetery.

7.   TIMOTHY J. LYNCH was born in 1873 in Chicopee. He worked in the family stonecutting business. Later he worked in the Ames factory. Timothy served as Alderman about 1917. In his later years, he ran a small store on Nonotuck Ave. At the time of his death on February 18, 1947, he lived in the Municipal Home.

Third Generation

Children of THOMAS LYNCH and SUSANNE GELO:

1.   MARGARET M. LYNCH was born in 1896 in Chicopee, MA, and died in 1965 in Chicopee, MA. She married THOMAS G. KATSANOS, who was born on July 29, 1896, and died on October 26, 1987 in Medford, New Jersey.

2.   THOMAS M. LYNCH was born on October 16, 1898 in Chicopee. He married STELLA M. PRZYBYLA on July 04, 1921 in Chicopee, MA, daughter of SZYMON PRZYBYLA and MAGDALENA BYS. She was born August 18, 1901 in Chicopee, MA Thomas died on July 14, 1964 in Springfield, MA and is buried in Calvary Cemetery.

1.   EDWARD JOHN LYNCH, born on January 02, 1922 in Chicopee, MA.

2.   ROBERT JOHN LYNCH, born on September 05, 1924 in Chicopee, MA.

3.   EVELYN M. LYNCH, born on August 18, 1926 in Chicopee, MA.

4.   HELENE M. LYNCH, born on April 07, 1929 in Springfield, MA.
