The Maplewood Community Association was founded on April 5th, 1961.
CITY ORDINANCES
COMMERCIAL VEHICLES of any kind are not allowed on streets,
driveways, or on personal property. The Law is not in place to take away someone's
livelihood, but to keep the property values up and to avoid damage to gas, water,
sewer lines, etc. We encourage residence to call violations in.
Trash Residents are reminded to control your trash and recyclables as much as possible. So they don't blow around the neighborhood. Reminder that trash bins are not to be visible from the street. It is a City violation-neighbors should call it in.
GARAGE SALES No more than 3
are allowed per year, per resident.
SPEED LIMIT is 30 miles per hour Please consider driving slower
than this to protect our children. Especially since it is warming up and children will be
playing out side, and cars might be parked in your blind spots so please drive carefully.
DOGS are not allowed to run loose! If off your property,
they need to be on a leash!
Noise Ordinance
Violating the noise ordinance could cost you a fine of up to $250 on your first offense and $500 on your 2nd offense and on the 3rd time your sound equipment will be confiscated.
Pay Your Dues!
the $30 Association Dues help with:
~ Administrative Items
~ Advocacy with City/Council
~ Newsletter
~ Social Events
~ Snow Removal
~ Insurance on Entrances
~ Legal Fees
~ Entrance Upkeep
~ Easter Bunny
~ Christmas Lighting Contest
~ Community Building Events
Each of these items helps all of us. If you have not paid your dues
please make a check to Maplewood Association for $30 and send it to:
Thank you to all who participated!
We hope that next year there will be a lot
more people taking part in the contest!
We had a few beautifully decorated homes that WOULD have been
counted among the winners, but were not, because they had not paid their dues!! :(
We can sit in our homes and watch what's happening 20,000 miles away via the internet or television, but not know our neighbor's name next door. Get to know your neighbors this year.
Fall & Spring General Meetings
Attend and discuss our community. Find out what is needed to improve our neighborhood and NE area. Involvement forms relationships. (Maplecrest Ext is starting in 2009!).
Perennial Swap
Bring plants in containers and swap with neighbors. It's a wonderful way to make your garden grow without costing anything.... Now that's a deal!
Easter Bunny
The Easter Bunny brings candy filled eggs to the children living in Maplewood. Volunteers are always welcomed to help stuff plastic eggs and help take them around to the children!
ACTION ITEMS/AREA CONCERNS
Peeping Toms
Report to police if you see any suspicious activity...CALL 911!
Vehicular Vandalism
Lock your cars and remove valuables. Numerous reposts filed where thieves have broken into cars in the neighborhood.
Yelping dogs
IF your neighbor isn't being considerate on this issue and lets their dog(s) yelp non-stop...Ask yourself, does the dog have proper shelter, water and food... Call it in at 427-1222... A yelping dog could be a sign of neglect.
Trash Cans
Trash cans are to be placed at the curb Tuesday night for Wednesday pick up. By Wednesday evening, all trash containers should be out of sight! This is a city ordinance!
Yard maintenance
Regular maintenance impacts the value of all homes in the neighborhood. If you need assistance let a neighbor know; no one likes calling in city code violations.
