Kangaroos are Marsupials, grouped in the family Macropodidae (big-footed).

They have a long, strong tail which is used as a balance when hopping, and as a prop when ressting.

The great kangaroos are the largest living marsupials in the world.

There are five speecies of greaat kangaroos  - the red, eastern grey, western grey, euro, and antelope kangaroo.

Kangaroos give birth to small premature young.  The 'joey' (baby) finds its way into the female's pounch and attaches itself to a nipple and remains there for about 235 days.

Kangaroos are ground feeders, eaating various kinds of grasses and small plants.
