General History
In 1779 Cook discovered a group of small islands in the Indian Ocean he called Moa Islands, after a group of natives they encountered while exploring the main island. Cooks men built a small settlement they named Port Adams, after the first steersman, who managed to steer clear of the dangerous rocks while entering Treasure Bay.

Maoco Island was part of the British Indian Overseas Territory (B.I.O.T.) and was used as a trade port for ships heading to and from the East. However, after several ships were wrecked while trying to reach Port Adams, this port was found unfit for this purpose. From that moment on Maoco was used as a British penal colony instead.

Five forts were built on the island, and many British delinquents were shipped to Maoco where they were forced to work in one of the silvermines. The story goes that the prisoners would sabotage the loading of the British tradingships by throwing cases of silver in the bay, giving the bay its name: Treasure Bay.

In 1862 Moaco became independant, and the new settlers appointed a first king from their midst: George Cantleton. Port Adams was renamed Queensville and many more towns were built. In order to run the country smoothly a legal system was put together, which included an caste system based on ethnic differencies, similar to the caste system in India.

Moaco remained a kingdom until general Macguire Kings played a coupe and appointed himself president of Maoco in 1973. Mostly out of anger towards the liberal, anti-caste system view of former king Richard Cantleton, Macguire Kings introduced a dictarorial regime to the people of Moaco. After a short guerilla war he also made the neighbouring island of Kananga part of the Moacoan territory.

In 2003, after a revolution lead by joined forces of patriots of both Kananga and Moaco, dictator Kings was executed, and the monarchy was reestablished on both islands. Since that time King George Cantleton IV rules over Moaco Island.
