Ethnic groups
Since the discovery of Cook in 1779 there have been different ethnic groups on Moaco. The natives called themselves Mao's, and were descendants from India and Malaysia. In an attempt by the first British settlers to exterminate this group, most of them fled to the neighbouring island Kananga. Today the vast mojority of Kanangeans consist of former Mao's.

With the installation of the first monarch on Moaco a caste-system was introduced, which was derived from the hierarchy on board of ships, and recognised the following ethnic groups:

Royal Class = British nobility
High Class = British descendants
Middle Class = descendants of people from southern Europe (mostly from Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece). This group is also called "Medito", derived from the word "Mediterranian".
Low Class = former Mao's, now called Kanangeans.

Needless to say the higher the class you are in, the more rights one had. During the 1960's people started complaining about this racial system. However, before king Richard could react to this, the government was overtaken by general Macguire Kings.  He himself was Royal Class, and represented conservative Royal Class people who were concerned about the upcoming change in the caste system. In order to prevent any moderations to take place, the general tightened the caste-laws and seperated the different groups.

After the revolution of 2003 the caste system no longer exists.
