INT. CAFE - DAY

MAOCAT, a cute but shy Chinese American barista on the brink of turning 30, stands patiently behind the counter, waiting for CUSTOMER #1 to choose her pastry. CUSTOMER #2 and CUSTOMER #3 stand in line behind Customer #1.

CUSTOMER #1
Do you have any scones?

MAOCAT
Yes, we do.

CUSTOMER #1
I'd like one scone, please.

MAOCAT
Any one in particular?
We have blueberry,
raspberry, and strawberry.

CUSTOMER #1
What's that one?

MAOCAT
Blueberry.

CUSTOMER #1
And that one?

MAOCAT
Raspberry.

CUSTOMER #1
That one?

MAOCAT
Strawberry.

CUSTOMER #1
I like that one,
whatever it is.

Maocat hands Customer #1 the scone.

CUSTOMER #2
Do you have any scones?

MAOCAT
Yes, we do.

CUSTOMER #2
I'd like one scone, please.

MAOCAT
Any one in particular?
We have blueberry,
raspberry, and strawberry.

CUSTOMER #2
What's that one?

MAOCAT
Blueberry.

CUSTOMER #2
And that one?

MAOCAT
Raspberry.

CUSTOMER #2
That one?

MAOCAT
Strawberry.

CUSTOMER #2
I like that one,
whatever it is.

Maocat hands Customer #2 the scone.

CUSTOMER #3
Do you have any scones?

MAOCAT
Yes, we do.

CUSTOMER #3
I'd like one scone, please.

MAOCAT
Any one in particular?
We have blueberry,

CUSTOMER #3
What's that one?

MAOCAT
Blueberry.

CUSTOMER #3
And that one?

MAOCAT
Raspberry.

CUSTOMER #3
That one?

MAOCAT
Strawberry.

CUSTOMER #3
I like that one,
whatever it is.

Maocat hands Customer #3 the scone.

Maocat walks away from the counter, massaging his temples.

MAOCAT
(muttering to himself)
