I finally cleared out my storage space last week. Boxes upon boxes of books and random paraphenalia colected from eleven years of living in the Bay Area. Sold a bunch of books, and wondered why I kept my physics and calculus textbooks. Also recycled my math and physics notes.
It reminds me of Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. Especially when the main character loses the intelligence he previously gained. It was a little sad that I don't understand those arcane symbols and equations. Not that I claim to be a genius, but I was sharper back then, though not as confident. I wonder if it was a good trade?
I also found out that I have way too much role-playing gaming crap. Some nerds may disagree, but three milkcrates worth of gaming junk is way too much. Only have as much as a nerd can physically carry, I say. (Actually, I don't say, now that I think about it.)
And of course, paintings and drawings back in my "artsy" days, when I thought I was going to be the next Picasso or Magritte. I was able to give away the various frames to a real artist, but I don't know what to do with my crappy paintings. Hang them up so other people can see my foolishness? I think not.
And my old essays from college. Geez. I thought I knew English back then. Did I learn anything from high school? Oh, wait, I went to a California public school, that's right...
