So I was sitting at my desk, typing up my notes, trying to turn coffee
induced insanity into something coherent, with the television in the
background.
I think it's a latch-key kid habit. To keep the house from seeming so
empty, I turned the TV on to a random channel (usually cartoons, but
occassionally some stupid sitcom like Full House).
Anyway, the movie of choice, was the Shining, which I had never seen
before. I know all the references, seen parts, and saw the Simpson's
Halloween spoof. So the story wasn't very new to me.
However, as I was trying to type something and getting a little cranky
and frustrated, that scene where Jack Nicholson blew up at Shelley Duvall
for interrupting him came to my attention.
I suddenly realized how empty the apartment was.
Isolation forces me to write, but it is an annoying requirement. I'd
rather hang out with friends or have fun, to tell the truth.
And then, of course, is famous scene, where Homer ends up writing over
and over again "No beer and no TV makes Homer go crazy."
"Don't mind if I do."
So, I really need to get out of this apartment. Especially since I've
been having nightmares lately.
