Train Webcam Project
Sponsor: Trains of the OKC area & of Oklahoma
An Yahoo Group
The Trains of the OKC area are sponsoring this project and of Oklahoma, which is a Yahoo Group. This live video with audio feeder will be placed within the state of Oklahoma once a location has been found. This is our group’s 2nd project. The locations could be one of the following cities:
Altus, Avard, Clinton, Elk City and Waynoka Oklahoma, at this time we are researching several towns within 100 miles of the Sayre area.
Grants and monthly classified ads that have been posted to the group’s website are financialing this project. If you would like to purchase an ad you may visit our web site for more INFO or by sending e-mail to us at TOTOKCA @ cableone.net for more INFO. * To send us a text message you can send it to me at 580-309-4038 and if you want to FAX us you can ring this number twice and then wait for 5 minutes 580-928-3798 for this is also our voice phone line.
This project has the following equipment being used, if you would like to help with this list, please get with us. This "*" notes that we have this item on hand. The following items will be used with this project:
We have started coming up with items listed for this project; the VHF antenna is a custom built antenna. The 20-Ft mast TV pole will hold the VHF antenna. Most of what’s on this list we can find/location or get, however we do need help with equipment donations.
How does this project work and what outside items are needed? This type of project has a location. It can be inside a building or placed inside a small sized storage building.
If a storage building is used it has tobe around 8X8 up to 8X10 in size for the electronic equipment will be housed inside said space. The equipment is made up of;
Also this project must have the following to work:
In General: Most of the items or parts for doing this project can be purchased for this project. To help reduce the cost of this project we will be accepting financial aid in the form of both donations and by personal and business sponsorships. Plus once this project has been placed at a location the group will be offering online classified display ads that will stream live each month on the webpage.
We have setup an account with Paypal for anyone to make a donation online using any major credit card. The amount of a donation can be of any amount, but in general it will range from $5 to $100 per donation. For a donation link has been placed on our webpage.
Since I have been viewing live TrainCams online; I noticed that no live train webcam is within the state of Oklahoma. I am sure that there is a good spot close to a class one-railroad track. * At this time we are doing research for a location, which is within 100-miles of Sayre, which is where I live.
Any interested parties may contact us by e mailing the group at TOTOKCA @ Cableone.net or you may reach me in person at 580-928-3798 for more details. * The estimated cost to do this project without the storage building is around $500, for it could be less if item are donation that would be needed to do this type of project. * If a storage building has been used with this project the cost for just the storage building is around $2000 for a wooden 8X8 storage building placed on skids. * The total cost with storage building is around $2500 for this project with the storage building.
The cost per month to operation with power and internet access:
Note 1 & 2: The cost of AC power W/out AC/Heat to space or building is estimated tobe around $45 per month. * If an AC or Heater has tobe used inside the storage building the estimated cost per month would be around $65. * The monthly cost for the high speed Internet service would be from $25 for DSL and around $50 for cable service.
To help offset the cost of both AC power and high speed Internet services this project will be offering paid classified ads on their web site, which will be busiesscard sized (2X3 or larger). * We also will have available for persons whom want tobe a Co-Sponsor for this project. For personal as well as business sponsorships will be offered to help offset the cost to do this project.
Project Updates: Now as to a location, we have been researching the city of Waynoka. * Plus not too far from said city is a smaller city, which has a railroad junction with the BNSF at Avard. The Avard line runs E/W to the city of Enid, which is a class one line. We estimate the number of trains on the Waynoka sub is around 60 per day and on the Avard sub would be less than 6 trains per day. * So if a location can be found within either city this project will be placed at that location?
