Aired Week of: 4/16/01
When Montoya and his men depart Santa Helena for Monterey, leaving Grisham in command, the Captain's former nemesis, Krane, sets his sights on the pueblo. Blackmailing Grisham and jailing the Dons, Krane and his desperados leave the Queen only one option. Unable to take them all on her own, she's forced to enlist some unlikely conscripts - the town's women.
WRITER: Steve Roberts
DIRECTOR: Paolo Barzman
GUEST STARRING:
ANTHONY DELONGIS as Krane
EMÌLE ABOSSOLO M'BO as Lamorena
PILAR ABELLÁ D'ARSTEGUI as Marisa.
These were some of the best lines of the episode that I felt were significant to the storyline. I liked the interaction between Tessa and Marta. It showed the special relationship these two women share and crosses the boundary of Mistress and Servant. It was great to see Anthony DeLongis in front of the camera instead of behind the scenes. His role as Krane provided some helpful insight into Captain Grisham's past. Some really good stunts were also performed in this episode. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
GRISHAM: So, the Colonel comes back in a few days...so what happens then?
KRANE: He'll find his brandy gone and his town under my command...with your help of course.
GRISHAM: Oh! Its just like old times.
KRANE: Not quite...you've come up in the world.
GRISHAM: Yes I have...and I have earned it.
KRANE: Hmmm...I wonder if the people of this town know what their Capitan is really like...a man who killed his
commanding officer to escape a hanging for the murder of a 16 year old boy.
GRISHAM: You pulled the trigger Krane...not me.
KRANE: So you said at my court martial....hmmm, which reminds me, I never thanked you properly for that (Hitting him).
GRISHAM: Always your dog (referring to Krane's partner)
KRANE: Come and be useful....that's an order.
KRANE: I believe you have their attention.
GRISHAM: Ladies and Gentlemen...I'm sorry to interrupt the party, but Señor Krane would like to address us all.
GASPAR: Well...I for one sir do not wish to be addressed...I'm not a package.
MARTA: Listen to me Tessa, you can't go.
TESSA: We've been arguing about this all night...Do you think Krane will release their Husbands and just ride away?
MARTA: How can you stop them alone.
TESSA: I'll find a way.
MARTA: You'll find your grave.
TESSA: Well who else is there...Grisham?....I'm not sure whose side he's on.
MARTA: That's easy....the winning side.
TESSA: What do you feel when you look at Krane?
MARTA: Death.
TESSA: He is death...Krane won't leave anyone alive to come after him.
MARTA: Krane....he is the hanged man.
TESSA: It was a dream Marta!
MARTA: A dream that's becoming a reality!
TESSA: Do you know what's real?....the Don's have no one...they will all die tomorrow unless the Queen rescues them
from Montoya's jail.
MARTA: Please don't go.
TESSA: I didn't choose my destiny Marta...it chose me.
MARTA: Save the Don's if you must....but I beg you stay away from Krane.
MARTA: I thought I was helping.
TESSA: You warned me to stay clear of the hanged man and you throw yourself in his arms....(Yelling)...we're not
finished!
MARTA: Do you think I raised you so that you could die in the hands of that pig?
TESSA: Do we have a need for this...he could have killed you!
MARTA: You weren't always an arrogant child.
TESSA: Well, if I'm arrogant...its because I learned it from you...why did you do that?
MARTA: Because you're not the only one allowed to risk her life for someone she loves.....I'm sorry.
TESSA: No, I'm sorry Marta.
QUEEN: Señora Hidalgo, do you want to save your husband?
VERA: You?.....could things get any worse....Please, I'm too young to die.
QUEEN: I'm here to help.
VERA: Good....help yourself...my jewels....my gold....
QUEEN: Do you want to save your husband?
VERA: My Husband?
QUEEN: ...and all the other Don's?
VERA: Me?
QUEEN: The Don's wives don't trust the Queen, but they trust you.
VERA: But what could I possibly do now....its impossible.
QUEEN: If anything ever happened to Don Hidalgo, you'd make a poor widow....no money, no properties....I wonder if
you'd mind bathing in the river?
VERA: Tell me what to do.
QUEEN: Lead the Don's wives to Cabrillo Canyon at noon tomorrow...I'll take care of the rest..
VERA: Tomorrow...noon...Cabrillo Canyon.
QUEEN: Marta, over here.....where are the rest of the women?
MARTA: Waiting in the rose courtyard.
QUEEN: I need their help!
MARTA: They are scared to death...Krane will kill their men if they try anything.
QUEEN: Its too late for fear.
MARTA: I'll do what I can.
QUEEN: Marta, be careful.
MARTA: Isn't that my line.
MARTA: There goes the hanged man.
TESSA: Insurrection is a crime against the monarchy....the Viceroy in Monterey wants to hang Krane personally.
MARTA: I had a dream last night
TESSA: Ugh...not again.
MARTA: Tessa, listen.....
TESSA: I don't want to hear it.
MARTA: I saw you lying by a stream....
TESSA: Sounds relaxing.
MARTA: ....and you were fat as a house...
TESSA: Thank you very much
MARTA: ....no..you were pregnant...
TESSA: Really?
MARTA: ...Ahem...with your third child...
TESSA: Third?....and my husband?
MARTA: ....he was by your side....tall, broad shoulders....
TESSA: ...handsome....someone I know....
MARTA: ...he leaned over to kiss you....
TESSA: ...and?
MARTA: I woke up.
TESSA: I don't believe you.
MARTA: Well, it was just a dream
TESSA: Marta!
