Tail Man, our protagonist, makes his home in Burlington, Vermont. He has always had a tail, but only recently has begun to use it to fight crime. Not only does the tail serve as an extra strong, super useful apendage, but it also grants Tail Man extraordinary balance. Tail Man walked at four months old.
Tail Man knows very little about why he was born with a tail. He was raised by his mother and has never known or heard anything about his father. Could it just be that Tail Man's father is a deadbeat that left his young family to fend for themselves? Maybe he died a tragic death, leaving his widow unable to speak about him. But there's always the possibility of something a little more sinister...
Satan has been around as long as anybody can remember, but seriously, what's his deal? One thing that we know is that he hates Tail Man. Like really, reallllly hates him. He ensnares souls of those who are too greedy and foolish to know better and those whose intentions are too noble to resist his temptation. But it seems that Satan has captured the soul of somebody very dear to Tail Man, and I think we all know that when you do that, you're just begging for a beatdown.
Harold A. Nuss III has lived an amazing life in a lot of ways. He comes from old money and has lived in the lap of luxury his entire life. Unfortunately, his face and hands have also always been anuses that rocket feces when he becomes enraged. Given this information, we'll let you decide whether or not he has an excuse for being the most ruthless corporate criminal in Burlington, the Heinous Anus. Lately, however, he's been dabbling in sinister matters beyond his understanding. We'll see what comes of this, but as you can imagine, it isn't likely to be good.
Well, he's the Soul Eater. He eats souls. What did you expect? But there's something more to the Soul Eater. He was created by Satan as an instrument of torment but due to inability to eat decent souls or stop eating evil ones, he has simply been assigned to guarding Hell's gates. But demon though he is, he is regarded as nothing more than a slave. He resents his demonic master and longs to do good. Enter Tail Man...
Like the Soul Eater, Sledgicorn is a slave of Satan. Abducted from his family at a young age, Satan intended to use him as his demonic steed. But years later Sledgicorn is still as stubborn as the day he was taken to hell, and Satan is fed up. Sledgicorn is scheduled to die when a stranger enters Hell that offers to help.
