The Thing that Could Not Be

By Manuel Newton

There is a thing that could not be,

In my dreams, it’s haunting me,

I don’t know what it is,

Where it went or where it lives,

It feeds and thrives off my soul,

Why, oh, why, I do not know,

It’s name is weird I cannot say,

For it’s so evil, I dread the day,

When it comes forth and takes its prize,

I’ll be dead, for me its inside,

I’m possessed with evil and sin,

The forces of pleasure will not win,

This thing is strong, too strong to beat,

All the love it will defeat,

I feel the hate it gives to me,

Kill your mother and ye shall be free,

I live for chaos, death and greed,

Causing hearts and souls to bleed,

For the master Satan I’d kill myself,

Self sacrifice brothers on the dark lord’s shelf,

Will you join me on my lifeless plot?

To kill the love and make it rot,

Join the quest and you will see,

As I did, the thing that could not be.
