A Friend By My Side

Sometimes my life seems dark and gray,

And it seems I can never find my way,

Sometimes I feel like I wish I were dead,

But then bite my tongue for bad things said,

 

Sometimes I feel only pain,

Am I going insane?

Looking out my window at the rain,

As the hurt in my heart leaves its stain,

 

I wonder how my life can just fall apart,

And go down on my knees praying for a brand new start,

A start I know that could never be,

Why do bad things always happen to me?

 

I ask myself but never do see,

But you were there to comfort me,

A friend by my side you would never leave,

 

I know this sounds so silly and gay,

And I hope you don’t take it that way,

It’s not the message I’m trying to convey,

There’s just one little thing I’m dying to say,

 

You are my best friend, and by my side you stay,

And somehow you drive all the sadness away,

So from the bottom of my heart I thank you today,

For a kindness so pure I could never repay.
