Is it possible to exist friendship between men and women?

My first reaction after reading this question would be no, and I would explain it by saying that a relationship, is a in constant development, so why just be friends if we can be something else? Men, or women between themselves have a physical flaw that stops them of being more then friends, at least most of them, we always have exceptions, but I’m glad those are still a minority. In reality a man is the complement of a woman, and vice-versa.

After thinking a bit more I can remember cases, were men and women can, or better, must (should, at least), be nothing more then friends. If she is a friend’s girlfriend, or in the feminine case, a friend’s boyfriend, during that period, there can be a sincere friendship between a man and a woman. There is a sentence usually very used, that is my friend’s girlfriend is, for me, like another man, people that say this normally take it very seriously, although when their friends relationship ends, it all goes back to “normal” (I mean, no friendship possible…).

Other cases where men and women can be  friends is when there is a big age difference, although I don’t believe very much, my hunt says it exists, so it she says it, so it is.

But there are still other kind of possibilities, I mean when there’s no physical attraction.

In this last two paragraphs I have referred cases possible depending on the way we look to friendship. If it is individual, or if it needs some kind of response. Can I  be someone’s friend, and he not be mine? I believe so. You must be asking what as this to do with the last couple of possibilities I’ve written. This guy makes no sense, is the thought in your head at this moment, so I’ll start making me understandable.

In case of the big age difference as in the case of the inexistence of physical attraction, it can work only to one of the sides in question. The old fool is absolutely in love with twenty year old girl, but even likes him, but only the thought of kissing him makes her disgusting (I think this kind of relationships is quite frequent), another example is like your father’s best friend, your single “uncle” being destined to you since you where a child (this is less, and less frequent, although very co mum a few years ago), what you girls say. Of course sometimes relationships between very different aged people can work, my grandparents re an example, my grand mother was 12 years older then my grandfather, but something happened… I think the problem is always an attraction problem, if you feel attracted by someone, it is very hard to be just and only his, or her friend, but if she or he does not fell the same, probably he or she will not consider you more then a friend, a good friend, maybe, but just a friend.

My advise is not to lose hop, maybe that attraction problem can be solved.
