Honan Temple

History has said that the Shaolin Monks first involvement with Kung fu was a result of there meeting an Indian monk name Bodhidharma (Ta mo) which occurred in the 6th century A.D..  From the start the these fundamentals spread through out the five temples and across China and contributed to the fighting styles that were the foundation of most Asian martial arts. 

The Shaolin Temple in Northern China's Honan province was built in 495.  The earliest written documents that survived that area was about Shaolin Monks using their  Kung fu to fight of terrorists  that were attacking the temples.  Many of the temples were burnt down in fact Honan Temple itself was partial burnt down but since  has  been fully restored.  The Syles of Kung fu that flourisehd at Honan Temple were;    Northern Fist, Ground Dragon, Monkey, Praying Mantis, Cotton
Fist, Eight Drunken Immortals,10,000 Lotuses Blooming, Golden
Snake, Staff, Spear, Jointed Sticks, Single Broadswords,
Double Broadswords, Tiger Hook Swords, Double Edged Sword,
Three Sectional, Chain Whip, Double Daggers, Double Hand Axes,
Single and Double Butterfly Knives
