Shifu Stephen Laurette, a Vietnam War veteran, began his training in New York under shifu Chui Chuen Luen. Shifu Stephen Laurette was one of shifu Chui Chuen Luen's senior student, and later went on to study with shifu Chui Chuen Luen's school brother, shifu Li Jin Rong.
Shifu Stephen Laurette trained Qi Xing Tang Lang Quan, Chen Tai Ji Quan, Ba Gua Zhang, and Hong Jia. Shifu Stephen Laurette also studied herbology and the Tao Ahn Pai (Taoist Elixer Style) from shifu.
Shifu Stephen Laurette opened an Herb shop in San Diego, California, (USA) and later settled in New York (USA).
