Shifu Ernie Layacan is one of shifu Li Da Chong's older students. He was one of shifu Li Da Chong top student and was one of the internal class instructors for shifu Li Da Chong in the mid/late 70's.
Shifu Ernie Layacan had the best talent for playing mantis the manner that shifu Li Da Chong liked to see. Soft movements soft, hard movements hard, long movements long, short movements short, proper hard and soft power (jing) - fast yet crisp/sharp movements - good flexibility and dragon waist, etc.
Shifu Layacan moved to Guam but returned to the San Francisco Bay area (USA) around 2000 and started teaching relatives and close friends out of his garage. He teaches the old fashion way, which is to say - you don't progress or advance to the next thing until you've gotten what he's already shown you - including being able to apply what you've learned in a fighting applicational manner.
