Abbot of the Buddhist Hua Lin monastery, located at the Ping To district (Shan Dong Province).
Shifu Cheng Yang Dan was a patriot anti-Qing and member of the Boxers Society (I Ho Chuan, the Righteous and Harmonious Fist Society).
