Im at that certain time of life When memory lets me down Recalling names and dates and things Can really make me frown
They call them senior moments And I get them quite a lot My recall button kinda sticks My memory cells are shot
And so it was this morning My poor old heart, it sank As I gazed upon my diary page My mind just went quite blank
I knew today was special I was so cross with myself Why had I marked, in highlight pen, REMEMBER..JANUARY 12th ?
I knew it wasnt Christmas That came two weeks ago My Anniversary perhaps? Nah! Thats in March, I know
As I chewed upon my bottom lip I thought, Ill watch a tape A tale of two time travellers Befriended by an ape
But when the tape was finished I was still without a clue Perhaps a bit of reading Was the best thing I could do?
So, next I thumbed through GG scripts But still I drew a blank What was it going to take for me To jog my memory bank?
And after that, still musing, I decided I would play A DVD, Land of the Lost Id bought it on eBay
I chewed upon a muffin as The show came to a stop I glanced at my Ron Clock, but still The penny didnt drop!
I looked up at my gallery Himself there, wall-to-wall But inspiration passed me by A case of No recall
I leafed through pages of my book A tale by Ed McBain About some clever NY cops It didnt jog my brain
I put the book back on the shelf And heaved a mighty sigh Then suddenly a treasured gift Just chanced to catch my eye
Upon the shelf, beside the books Just over to the right A post card sent to me by Ron Produced a flash of light
My memory banks were jolted And I shouted out Hooray It is Ron who is the special chap His BIRTHDAY is today!!!
It was Ron who starred as Virdon On that planet with the ape He was sick of those gorillas though He wanted to escape
And, talking of Gorillas, It will come as no surprise Our Ron played tough man Garrison Who led those GG guys
It was he who fought the sleestacks In that faraway Lost place. And that clock that Arnie gave me Bore his pic upon its face.
And youll never guess, dear reader! Heres another funny thing! He starred in 87th As the rookie tec, Bert Kling
The clues that I was looking for Were plain for me to see But I was slow at spotting them Im silly as can be
And so, today, dear Ronald Here are wishes just for you For a Very Happy Birthday And a year thats fun all through! |
