PROPOSAL IDEAS
A
Proposal that Lasts Forever
For a proposal, take a picture of each letter in WILL YOU MARRY ME from
different signs or whatever. Each letter indiviually on different pictures (14
in all). They can be placed in a small photo album, one per page so that she
will have to flip through them as she reads the letters when you are ready to
propose. Then dress nice and have someone take a picture of you down on one knee
in the spot the proposal will take place, with the ring out. Add this as the
final picture in the album. Then tell your love that you are going out so dress
nice. Put the same outfit on you took your picture in. Take her to the same
spot, so that the picture is identical (maybe a park). Then, when she is ready,
give her the pictures and tell her to look. When she gets to the end there you
will be, just like in the picture. Wait till the last picture to get on one
knee. They will have the memory of that proposal for a lifetime as well as a
keepsake of the moment.

A Box Of
Memories
For our 6-month anniversary my boyfriend made dinner for me. When we were pretty
much done, he pulled out a box that would hold a ring in it. He had told me a
month or two before he wanted to get me a promise ring, but couldn't afford it.
The day came and he handed me the box, and as I opened it up, I saw it was
empty. I was a little bummed because I had gotten my hopes up, but as he saw my
face he said, "This box is empty so that we can fill it with memories." Then, he
pulled out the velvet ring-holder and opened it up with the ring facing me and
said, "And here's our first one." We will have been together for almost a year
now, and are getting married in one to two years.

A
Computer Proposal
My fiancé and I met online over the Internet. After dating for a couple of
months, he proposed to me. One morning, he sent me an instant message, asking me
how I slept, etc. He then told me to click on his profile. There in great big
letters under Latest News was: "AIDY, WILL YOU MARRY ME!" It was unconventional,
but adorable considering how we initially met. We are now living together and
planning a Christmas wedding.

A Great
Start To A Wonderful Family
I got pregnant after my boyfriend and my 2 year anniversary. I knew where my
boyfriend stood with children, so I was very pleased to tell him about my
condition. As I had expected my boyfriend was happy too. He was there for me
throughout my pregnancy. One night while in my 7th month the baby started
kicking, which showed a rise and fall on my stomach as a little bump. We lifted
my shirt and watched for a few minutes making some little comments and some
short little jokes. I shifted a bit to watch a minute of the TV, when I felt
something cold against my skin. I looked down and rising with he bump on my
stomach (the baby kicking) was a diamond engagement ring. I burst into tears,
and as my boyfriend wiped away my tears he whispered, "See even our baby thinks
we should unite, will you marry me?" I cried even harder as I kissed him and
said, “Yes!”

A Moment
To Remember
On our first anniversary, my boyfriend surprised me with a candle light dinner.
We were all dressed up and it was so much fun. After dinner, at one point I got
up and stood at the counter. He told me to stand there and close my eyes, so I
did. Then he put headphones over my ears... and it played our song! Then he
started kissing me and the next thing I knew.. he slowly slips a beautiful ring
through my finger. It was a moment to remember!

A
Promise Of Affection
I remember when my boyfriend and I were at his best friends wedding and he was
the best man, so I couldn't see him as much. After dinner he came over to me and
gave me this little package of butter. The butter was PROMISE. He said to me as
he placed it in my hand "I promise to honor and cherish you forever" To this day
I still have the butter.

A
Romantic Proposal
My Boyfriend had "reserved me" for the days of June 3rd and 4th, so I knew that
he had something planned, but I had no idea what. He asked me to come over to
his house on Monday afternoon, and when I went out to my car to leave my house,
on my hood was a cluster of lilacs and a little film canister. I opened up the
canister and read: "Today we are going on a scavenger hunt. I have chosen 9
special places to symbolize the 9 months that we've been dating and you have to
find each place by the clues I'm leaving you." And he left me the first clue.
The first spot was his house. Then while I was there I had to find the next clue
and so on. It was so much fun because we visited all of our romantic spots like
where he asked me out and where we had our first kiss. The 4th spot we visited
was along side of the St. Anthony Falls in Minneapolis. That's where we had been
on our first date and several times since then. In this spot there was no next
clue ... instead he handed me a rolled piece of paper on which he had written me
the most romantic letter I've ever read, talking about how much I mean to him
and how much he loves me. It was so sweet, and when I was done I gave him a big
hug. While we were hugging I heard a ringing noise from the woods next to us.
After a few rings Brian told me to go figure out what it was. So I walked down
the little path to find a huge pile of golf balls at the bottom of the path. I
wasn't really sure what was going on and asked Brian what he wanted me to do
with them all. He said, "Kick them off!" So I did. Underneath the golf balls was
a heart-shaped stepping stone (which he had made) that read: “ON THIS SPOT,
BRIAN (his full name) WAS ENGAGED TO CARA (my full name). MY FIRST LOVE, MY TRUE
LOVE, MY SOULMATE FOREVER. JUNE 3rd, 2002.” I was like, "engaged?" I turned
around and Brian was down on one knee holding a ring for me. It was the most
incredible proposal I could have ever imagined!

And A Ring

A Ruined
Proposal
When I was planning my proposal everything was set and ready to go. I had the
ring, the flowers and the location. I found out that the element of surprise was
gone when my future mother-in-law called me to tell me that my girlfriend knew
that I was going to propose because she had accidentally let it slip. I needed
to take some action. I went out to a cheap jewelry shop and bought a cheap fake
diamond ring. I broke off two of the arms that were holding the diamond in place
so that the diamond came out. I then took it and placed in a beautiful felt box
and got ready for the proposal. I picked my girlfriend up and drove her to
Central Park in NYC. I took her to a bench and told her how much I loved her and
that she meant so much to me. Now as I am saying this I am opening the felt box
in front of her. We both looked down and saw the ring, broken in the box. I
started to act upset, saying things like how could this happen, and I couldn’t
believe this. She tried to calm me down telling me it would be ok, and we could
get it fixed. That's when I sprung it on her. I told her that I knew she knew
that I was proposing that day and that the ring was fake and that in fact I was
not going to propose today. At this point she was confused and started getting
upset saying that her mom invited all these people to celebrate our engagement
and that she bought all this food for it. I told her to calm down and we would
call her soon, but for now let's just go for a walk in the park. As we turned a
corner in the park, there on a half circle stone bench, were rose pedals, wine,
candles, flowers, and stuffed animals. As she looked at it she said to me, “Oh
that's so sweet! What do you think is going on here?” I looked her in the eye in
a way that told her exactly what was going on here. I got down on one knee, and
in front of 40 tourists that stopped to look, asked her to marry me with the
real ring that was in my other pocket. I have been happily married for one year
now.

A Song
And A Rose
I proposed to my girlfriend by going to a nightclub that had karaoke. I am not a
professional singer but I wanted to do something she would remember. So I
brought a rose and took out the center of it and placed the engagement ring with
a string tied to it into the center of the rose and tied the other end to the
stem. I went on stage and sang the Wonder of You by Elvis who she loves and when
I was finished asked her to join me on the stage, which she did. I said these
words to her "They say that every rose has thorns but this rose has no thorns,
it has points, if you pull on this string you will see the points I am talking
about." She pulled on the string and out of the center of the rose came the
diamond ring. At which point I asked her to marry me, with tears in her eyes she
said yes. The people in the nightclub were cheering, some were crying. It was a
very touching moment one I am sure she will never forget and neither will I.

A Walk
To Remember
I like to run, and my then girlfriend and I take walks from time to time. One of
those times, she came to visit me at my folk’s house. We went to a local park
with some nice hiking trails that go up to the highest point in the county. We
decided we would walk up to the top. I was so excited that I practically pushed
her up the hill. When we got up to the top, we started to look around. While
she's a bit wide-eyed and looking around, I got down on one knee and got her to
sit on my other knee. After that, it's mostly a blur, but I know I got "Will you
Marry me?" out and heard a yes. We'll be getting married in 135 days and can't
wait!

A day to
remember
If you want to spend a day with your mate that she will remember forever and
will always treasure. Then this is for you. It's also a wonderful way to
propose. It's none to expensive either. Simply obtain a camera, and some
transportation, then take that special him or her, to the various clothing shops
in town that specialize in wedding clothes. Inform that shopkeepers that you are
browsing, so you'll be picking out stuff and trying it on, then snapping
pictures with the camera. There are several appealing things about this. It's
not expensive, it's original, they'll feel close to you, they'll know that you
truly love them, and you are going to have some wonderful pictures. This is also
a superb way to get your mate thinking about being together with you forever.
Have fun!

The World
My Boyfriend just proposed to me on Saturday, February 9 2002. He took me in a
four-seated plane (which I thought was free because he did some work for
them-landscaping) The airport was in Guelph Ontario where we took off and my
boyfriend works in Guelph so we thought we would fly over his work to get an
aerial picture for his boss who is a close friend to us also. When I went to
take the picture the pilot who was involved in this suddenly yelled, "What the
(bleep) is that?" Startled, I looked to where the pilot was pointing to see a 2
acre field with the words, "Dana Will You Marry Me?" in fluorescent orange
paint. When I turned back to look at him he had the ring in his hand and a
single wrapped long stem red rose. I said yes! When we got back to the airport
the lady at the desk handed me a huge box of long stemmed red roses to finish
off my dozen. It was like a fairy tale come true!

Adorable
Proposal
I think the perfect perfect way to purpose to a woman would be to go to a pet
store, find the cutest, most adorable little puppy in the whole store. Purchase
this puppy and make sure you have the diamond ring as well. You take the ring,
and slip it on a collar. Then put the collar around the puppy's neck. Wrap it up
in a little box with a bow. Find some place romantic to go to, and give her the
gift. Just imagine the astonishment when she opens the box to find a little
puppy with a diamond ring on the collar. I doubt you would even have to say the
words.

Advertising Your Love
On Valentine's Day, I had a class early in the morning in this building on
campus. As I walked toward the building I noticed that there were flyers posted
everywhere. I just thought someone was really trying to advertise something.
When I got closer, I realized that they all said, "Jama, I love you...will you
be mine? Love, Brian." They were everywhere, different ones...and everyone was

Airplane
Proposal
This is how a friend of mine proposed: He is of European descent and often
visits "home" to fly his planes in the mountains of Austria. He always wanted to
take his girlfriend, but it never worked out because of time and money.
Eventually, he was able to secretly clear her schedule and pay for her plane
ticket to go with him. She assumed it was simply a very lucky romantic getaway.
He had worked it out so that one of the hills he flew her over had "I love you.
Will you marry me?" written out with huge white sheets of cloth. When they
approached it, he told her to look out to the right to see the most beautiful
scenery. She was so surprised! Not only did she get a free, romantic trip to
Europe with him, she also got a very romantic and unique proposal.

An
incredibly memorable evening
I was having a bad day at work, when the phone rang and my boyfriend said to be
ready at 8. He picked me up and asked if I wanted a quiet or a fun night! I
choose to have a fun night, the mood I was in was not good! So we went to a
Sports Bar with a huge fireplace! We order one Hamburger and fries to share!
When I placed my hand on the hamburger to cut it in half, he placed his hand on
mine and said "We are whole, with two separate souls!" I didn't really
understand, but after we ate. The waitress came up to the table and handed me a
white rose with a note attached to it, saying "The night is not yet over". We
went to Striking lanes and raced on the motorcycles, just being close to him,
was enough for me! As we played pinball, each time I beat him, I received
another white rose with the first saying "I don't believe this", the second
saying "You have all the moves" and the third "You are one lovely lady". My eyes
watered and I wanted to leave! As he held the door open and I got in, he reached
over to put my seatbelt on and kissed me very tenderly! As we left the parking
lot, I thought we were going home and he said "One more stop to complete the
night!" As we pulled into a parking lot, there was a neon sign flashing
"Memories" and below it "I LOVE YOU"! They played our song every half hour! Each
time we danced there was a red rose at our table and each one had a little
saying on it! After 6 red roses and the notes put together, they spelled out
"Will you be mine forever". We have been married for 3 years and our love grows
stronger each day! I will never forget that night!

Anniversary Proposal
My boyfriend and I had been together 4 years. On the day of our anniversary he
sent me a yellow rose (my favorite color); he sent me a rose a day (at my work)
over the next 3 days, 4 in total. On the last day he included a card with the
rose that said "4 beautiful roses for 4 beautiful years." On my way home from
work that night, he sent me a text message telling me to be ready to go out at
6.15 p.m. He picked me up and took me to a beautiful restaurant where there was
a red rose waiting for me. After dinner he took me outside to look at the view,
he got down on one knee and said: "4 yellow roses for the past 4 years, and 1
red rose for the rest of our lives, will you marry me?" It was the most romantic
and beautiful thing he could have ever said. Of course I said yes.

Application For Love
My fiancee and I have been on a long distance relationship for four years. After
I graduated from College, he popped the question and we got engaged last
November. I was real happy but all I said was "yes" and wanted to show him how
much I loved to be his forever somehow... So I wrote a cover letter and resume
to apply for the position to be his wife and sent him for Valentine's. I explain
why I would like to apply for the position and how I am qualified for it in a
cover letter. Then my resume was filled with history of events and time we spent
together over the past fours years. Under skills, list of special things I do
make him happy in bed etc. They look so serious for a second but what's written
are hilarious and special for us. My fiancee loved it and enjoyed it so much. If
you would like to let your love know how much you want to be with him too, this
is a thought.

At The
Old Ball Game
I could only wish this would happen to me... but, a dear friend of mine had
arranged for all of his friends go to a minor league baseball stadium where he
and his girlfriend attended every home game. Before the game, he had arranged it
to where they would call out her seat number to throw out the first pitch. He
excused himself to the restroom as she was on her way out to the dugout. He
secretly went to the locker room, put on a uniform and the catcher's gear. After
she threw the first pitch, he shook his hand and said "no good" then threw it
back to her. She threw out a second pitch and again he shook his hand and said
"no good". When she through the third pitch, he called a meeting with the
pitcher. He ran out to her, took off his catchers mask, dropped to one knee and
asked her to marry him. The entire crowd cheered! Of course, she said yes. It
was the most beautiful and romantic thing I have ever witnessed!!

Proposal
My fiancé, Brian proposed to me in the most romantic way. He and I had been
dating 2 years when it all changed one night. I was working in my bedroom on a
paper for college when I heard music playing. I went into the hallway and
noticed lily petals all over the floor in a line. I followed them all the way
downstairs and out to my backyard. In my backyard the song that had started
playing was my favorite song, which is “I'll Never Break Your Heart” by the
Backstreet Boys. Brian was standing there with a bouquet of lilies in his hand
and he sang to me that song. The whole yard was decorated with flowers and
candles. I started crying and afterwards he recited this very romantic speech
and got down on one knee and said “Adrienne, I love you, will you marry me?” I
of course said yes and he slipped the ring on my finger. That was 3 months ago
and our wedding day is next summer after we both graduate from college.

Balloons
II
Okay, this is kind of corny and childish but I loved it and thought it was the
perfect way to show someone like me who is a kid at heart how you feel. My now
husband had my friends take me out. When I got back, our living room was filled
with balloons.... tons of balloons! I was given a pin and told to pop them... I
figured since it was not so unusual for him to do small things for me this was
some sort of new game he had designed. But rather, as I popped certain balloons
I got roses in some... in others, way at the back and bottom, placed so I would
get them in order, I found little notes. The first: "Its been one year since you
found my heart.", second: “I hope that we shall never part." and lastly I got a
balloon he was holding with a note that read, “Will you be my wife?”, and the
ring I dreamed of even as a kid!! How sweet is that?

Leave Proposal
My boyfriend Ryan was about to be deployed to Iraq, so on one of his last nights
home, we went out for a nice dinner. When we arrived home, he asked where my dog
was and I told him the basement. I went downstairs to get my dog and saw the
stairs lit up with candles on each step. As I walked down the stairs I saw
numerous different arrangements of all of my favorite flowers placed over the
entire room. The table was set with champagne, glasses and a picture of us. The
best part was a soft teddy bear sitting on the sofa. I thought all of this was a
good-bye present until he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. Even
though he's half way across the world right now, I have this great night and the
beautiful ring to remind me of him!

Birthday
Party Surprise
My husband and I had only been dating a couple months when he proposed. We were
having a birthday party for his son (from a previous marriage). We had a picnic
and invited both of our families. His son began opening his birthday gifts and
the last one was from his dad and me. His son began opening the gift and to my
astonishment it was not the gift we bought for him. His son brought me a box and
said, "I think this is for you, my dad wants to know if you will marry him." My
husband then came over to me, and asked if I would be his wife. Of course I said
yes! I opened the box and inside was the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. It
was perfect, the way he proposed included his son (14 yrs. old) and our
families, and it let me know that his son was okay with us getting married. We
were married in December 2001.

ways ever. They were bowling (both of them enjoy that) and drinking champagne.
My step-dad had arranged for "Will you marry me Valerie?" to pop up on the
screen that usually posts the scores. He slipped the ring in her champagne while
she was bowling, and when she went to get a drink, she got a little surprise.
Another way to do this would be to put the ring in your mouth then kiss your

Break-Up
Proposal
My boyfriend and I were having some problems, mostly to do with his
ex-girlfriend. He works quite a bit and he was always breaking dinner dates. We
had made a date one night to go for dinner at an expensive restaurant, he called
me from work to explain that a client would be late and his last meeting would
run a little longer then expected. He told me to go to the restaurant and wait
for him. I got all dressed up and went there, I was brought to my table where
there was a note waiting for me. It said: “Kristin, I'm sorry that things have
not been going well; there is nothing more that I can do to make you trust me. I
understand this is how you feel and I think it would be better for both of us if
we ended our relationship. Forever – Michael.” I was so upset, I went home and
was going to throw all of his clothes on the front lawn, when I got there most
of his clothes were already gone. There was another note on the dresser:
“Kristin, I know I've hurt you and I'm sorry for that, take a week and go to
Hawaii ... I'm sorry. – Michael.” There was a plane ticket in an envelope as
well as reservation instructions for me. I thought he was crazy but decided to
go, he broke my heart, might as well break his wallet! I got there, went to the
hotel and opened the door. There was another note: “I'm sorry to have done this
to you, go have a drink in the bar downstairs.” I was freaked out, but I went
downstairs. When I got there I saw flowers, balloons and half my family waiting
for me. Michael was down on one knee; he told me how much he loved me and wanted
to be with me forever. He asked me to be his wife. It was the craziest thing in
the entire world, but I'll never forget it.

Build-a-Bear Proposal
Ok, well this hasn't happened yet, but this is how I am planning on proposing to
my girlfriend. I am going to go to a Build-a-Bear workshop and make a koala
bear. (Her pet name for me is koala.) Then, I’ll dress it like I would usually
dress, in jeans and a black t-shirt maybe. You can record your own words on a
voice box, so I will put one in that says, "I love you Abby, will you marry me?"
Then, I will plan a romantic dinner at her house one night. In the middle of the
dinner, the doorbell will ring. (One of my friends will do this for me!) When
she answers the door, no one will be there, but the teddy, a bouquet of flowers,
and a note saying "squeeze me." When she does, and hears the proposal, she'll
run back inside, only to find me on one knee with an engagement ring. Hopefully,
she'll say yes! Editor's Note: You can purchase a

Caricature Proposal
I proposed on our lunch break. I had previously arranged to have a caricaturist
there ahead of time, unbeknownst to her. We had a code worked out so he would
know it was us. I walked over to him with my girlfriend and asked him some silly
questions about what he was doing and he explained he was taking an art class.
Then he said, just like we had scripted, "You know, I am taking an art class
right now, and I have to draw a couple, and it would mean a lot to me if you
would both sit for me, it'll take no more than 10 minutes." Well, I convinced my
girlfriend to sit down with us, since it would be fun, right? So, we sat, and
sure enough about ten minutes later the artist said, "Okay, I'm almost finished,
but I don't really know you too well (my fiancée) so I need you to fill in this
little bubble I left blank over your head. Write either 'yes' or 'no'." Well, he
handed the picture to her and I took the opportunity to get on my knee and take
out the ring because the picture was of me on my knee proposing. Well, to my
relief she wrote 'Yes!' in her bubble and we will be married in a little over a
year!

Carousel
Romance
The way my fiancé proposed to me couldn't have been more appropriate. I love
carnivals and amusement parks, so the summer after we had been together for 2
years, he took me to the amusement park that I practically grew up at. After a
very fun--and unsuspecting--afternoon, he took me to the carousel. I always sit
on the outer ring of horses, so I can grab for the brass ring (to go on the
carousel again, for free), and he always sits next to me, which means he's on an
"up and down" horse. This time, he sat in front of me, and when I asked why, he
said, "To try and get more rings than you!" Well, it was hilarious watching this
rookie grab for rings, dropping some, almost falling off, and whatnot. At the
end of the ride, he asked me how many rings I had. I told him, and asked him the
same. He said, "Well, not as many as you, but let me show you which one I did
get." He walked up to me, opened his hand, and there was an engagement ring. He
proposed to me in front of everyone there, and then the carousel operator let us
have a ride all to ourselves!

Champagne Propsal
I've been lucky enough to meet the woman of my dreams and on the last weekend of
this month (February), I plan to profess my undying love for her by asking for
her hand in marriage. My plan is to take her away to a beautiful bed & breakfast
in Jackson, NH. Before we leave for our weekend, I will have purchased a
fantastic bottle of champagne in which I will etch the words “Sylvia, I love you
with all my heart. Will you marry me? Love David.” I’ll also call the manager of
the Wentworth and let him/her in on my little plan. Once we check in, I’ll have
Sylvia relax in the suite while I continue to bring the bags in. At that point,
I’ll take the etched bottle of champagne to the manager for safe keeping.
Whereas our stay includes a five course candlelight dinner, I’ll suggest we
order a bottle of champagne. That will be the cue for the Wine Stuart to bring
over the etched bottle and present it to Sylvia for her approval. During the
commotion of her trying to figure out what’s going on, I will have slid out of
my chair (hopefully unnoticed) to be by her side on one knee presenting her with
the ring. With any luck, she’ll say yes!

Check
YES or NO
I never received a check “yes or no" letter when I was in grade school. When my
boyfriend and I first started dating, he found that out and sent me one. It
read, "I really like you and I think you like me too. Will you be my girlfriend?
Check yes or no." Three years later, on our anniversary, he handed me an
envelope. When I opened it, there was a note inside. It read, "I love you with
all my heart, and I think you love me too. Will you marry me? Check yes or no."
When I looked up from the letter, there he was on one knee holding a ring.
Needless to say, I checked "yes" both times.

home for Christmas leave. I picked her up Christmas eve, and took her to a place
called Old Town, which was decorated beautifully, with trees, lights,
luminaries, and Christmas caroling. We did the caroling for a while, and then
decided to go for a walk. we went to look at the tree and it was nice to just
hold each other while looking up at the tree. It was really cold and she had my
gloves on so I told her to let me have just one of them (the left one is the one
I picked) so when she put her hand in her pocket I put my hand in it also, and
took her hand out. she looked up at me and I told her how much I loved her. she
started to look down as I put the ring on her finger. After I got it on she
asked, "What's this?" With the biggest smile I whispered, "What do you think it
is?" she started crying like crazy. I asked her if she was going to make me get
down on one knee to get an answer? She said yes and with tears in her eyes I
took the ring off and at the top of my lungs asked for everyone’s attention. Her
eyes lit up. She got all embarrassed and in front of everyone there, I got down
on one knee and asked her to marry me. She said Yes, and it was perfect!

Christmas Tree Proposal
This has yet to be done, but here’s the plan: On Christmas Day, I am going to
have five presents under my girlfriend’s tree for her. She will of course
believe that I am at my father’s celebrating Christmas but I will be hiding in
the kitchen. The first present will be a ticket stub to our first movie which
just happened to be our first date and where our first kiss was. The second will
be a picture of her 5-month-old niece and me. That one will be representing the
time when we casually began talking about kids and a life together. The next
will be a picture of the two of us at my sister’s wedding a few months later. We
had an amazing time and couldn't stop saying "I love you" to each other that
day. The next one will be a Valentine’s Day stuffed toy gorilla reminding her of
the amazing Valentine’s Day the two of us had a few months after my sister’s
wedding. The last present will have a note in it reading: “You have given me
more joy than even I thought possible, and at the end of this string I hope to
give back just a fraction of that joy to you...” There will be a string attached
to the bottom of the box leading around the tree 3 or 4 times and up to the top.
Around the back of the star at the top of the tree will be an engagement ring.
Just before she gets to the ring, I am going to come out from the kitchen and
make my speech and get down on one knee and ask her to marry me.

Proposal Puzzle
I fell madly in love with a girl I was dating, so I proposed to her this way: a
few days before the proposal, I made a puzzle box wherein she had to look for
specific words pertaining to our relationship - words that had special meaning
to us - but these words where arranged in a certain way. Once she was done
finding the words she would need to take the decoder I made for this which gets
placed over the puzzle to reveal the message "I'm ready to love you, please be
mine ... just say yes and be my love." I added hidden flaps to the puzzle box
and hid the decoder behind one of the flaps and under the other one I hid a
cut-out of her name (which had a love letter written on each letter). I made
note cards which had step-by-step instructions, answers to the game, etc., and
put them inside. The last card had a note telling her to look for me outside her
house once she was done. I gave the box to her after a dinner date and told her
not to open it until she got home. We separated there and I secretly followed
her car to her house. I waited outside until she came out and found me kneeling
on the ground, waiting for her reply ... of course she said yes! Then I told her
to open the trunk of the car and out popped balloons to reveal a huge bouquet of
roses! We're on our second month now and it's been the happiest and best two
months ever! Our love is really strong and hopefully it would last forever!

Deployment Proposal
I was proposed to when my honey left on a deployment overseas. He was getting
ready to hop on the bus and said, "You aren't going to find someone else are
you?" and I replied, “Of course not!” He handed me a little silver box, and
said, “I hope not,” kissed me on the cheek, and got on the bus. I was standing
there in shock, and he opened the bus window, and said, “Well, are you going to
say yes?” Needless to say, I have planned the wedding; all I need is for my
groom to come home.

Dessert
Proposal
One of my friends was telling the proposal story of her sister: The boyfriend
took her and some of her family and friends to eat out at a nice place. Well,
after eating dinner, he asked her if she wanted dessert. She said no, but little
did she know that he had desert already planned out. He had the
waiters/waitresses prepare a humongous brownie and ice-cream dessert, with tons
of whipped cream and cherries too. The engagement ring (pretty good sized) was
placed on the stem of a cherry so that it sat on it. Well, they brought it out,
and he asked, "Do you like it?" She replied, "No. I don't want it. It's too
big." Well, the boyfriend of course was crushed! But then her sister said,
"LOOK!" She hadn't even SEEN the ring, so then she turned the dish, and then
said yes!

Easter
Egg Hunt
Stay up later than your sweetie the night before Easter. Have them hunt around
for eggs filled with love notes, candy, etc. When they are down to the last few,
give them a hint to one they might have forgotten. (Hide this one really well!)
Have the last one decorated extra special and have the ring, or some other
special token, inside! This would make for a perfect proposal.

"The
Presentation" Proposal
My girlfriend thought that on Saturday we were going to a black-tie event for my
company at the Crown Plaza Ravinia off of Ashford-Dunwoody (in Atlanta). I told
her about the event a month ahead of time. I also told her that I was giving a
presentation along with my boss. She believed it. I also went to the trouble to
make up invitations and print them up. We arrived an hour early to meet my boss
and go through the presentation before we gave it. When we got there, I
pretended to call him to tell him we had arrived. I had my girlfriend next to me
as this next part of the plan took place: he proceeded to chew me out. He was
saying that I sent him the wrong presentation without the changes we made on
Friday. I began to freak out and say "I have the disk in my car, do you have
your laptop?" etc. While this was going on I had a paper copy of the PowerPoint
presentation in my hand and I was flipping through as he was supposedly pointing
out the mistakes via cell phone. I said to him to come on down so we can meet.
At that point I turned to her and said "Can you believe I messed this up so
badly?" and began to show her the slides that were messed up. One of them read
"Tonya, will you Marry Me?" She had this puzzled look on her face as she read it
because she was so thrown off by all of the shenanigans leading up to it that
she was simply shocked. Then I got on my knee and pulled out the ring and asked
her, “Will you marry me?" What made it so nice was I had my best friend hiding
out with my camcorder recording the whole thing so we have this recorded memory
to hopefully show our grandkids. Everyone knew except her. So when she would
call and say, "Hey! I am engaged," they would respond with, "Yeah, we know,
Jason told us it would be today." It was sweet because she is the type of person
who has to know everything and for her to have something this major happen
without her even picking up on it was worth the trouble of planning and pulling
it off. To top off the evening, we went downtown and had dinner at a nice
restaurant.

A Day
Full Of Surprises
It was 5:00 in the morning on July 20, 2004, my 22nd birthday when my boyfriend
called to say, “Happy Birthday, Sweetie, wake up because we’re going fishing.” I
got ready. He came over and picked me up. On the way to the beach he gave me a
card with a nose ring in it. It was really nice I was just so happy we were
going fishing because I had always wanted to do that. We got our equipment, had
some breakfast and went on the boat. It was really nice, just the two of us in
the middle of the ocean on a fishing trip. We learned how to fish and even
caught a couple. The fishing trip was over in the afternoon. He took me to my
house so that I could get cleaned up then he took me out for lunch at a Greek
restaurant; the food was great. After that we went to his house so that he could
get ready. I always put my purse in his room so as I went to put it in there, on
his bed was another card and a little gift: two very nice belly rings. I was
surprised and loved them very much. I get very sensitive on my birthday so every
time I got a card I started to cry because they we’re so sweet and deep. We
cuddled for a while and then we left. He had made reservations at a restaurant
in Newport Beach called Mama Mi; it was a candlelit dinner right on the beach.
We ate, and the food was great. Towards the end of our meal, a lady from the
street walked into the restaurant yelling “I’m looking for Marylyn, Marylyn -
the birthday girl!” I was shocked! she told me her name and introduced me to a
guy who would be escorting us through Newport Lido on a gondola that my
boyfriend had set up for me. I couldn’t believe it; I was so surprised! I
started to cry with joy and kiss my boyfriend. We finished our dinner and our
escort took us to the gondola. It was a beautiful gondola with a couch set. It
was a little cold outside so my boyfriend gave me a blanket. He brought some
salami, crackers and cheese. The guy took a picture of us and took us around
Newport Lido. It was so romantic; we cuddled, kissed, talked and held each
other. Then I told my boyfriend that I hoped that was the last of the surprises
for the day because I didn’t think I could cry anymore! He said, “Oh, I don’t
know ...” We went on for a while, when I saw something in the water I thought we
were going to hit. The gondola guy asked me to pick it up and when I first
tried, I missed. He turned the gondola around and I tried a second time and I
got it. It was a bottle with a message inside. Inside was a letter that started
with, “Dear Soul Mate,” and of course I started to cry again. It was a very
sweet and deep letter that made me feel so wonderful. At the end it said, “Let’s
add another chapter to our lives …” and he got on his knee and gave me the most
beautiful promise ring I had ever seen. I didn’t know what to say. I felt like I
was going to faint! I told him that I loved him and “yes” to all his questions.
He put my ring on; we kissed, held each other tight, enjoyed the moment and rode
back to shore.

Engagement Night To Remember
I had been going out with my boyfriend for about 3 years, things had been so
hectic, (moving to another city) that I had completely forgotten about our three
year anniversary. He sure didn't though. He had called the moving company and
told them that they didn't need to be there for another day and when I got home
from work, I was less then willing to move anything. I walked in the door and on
three of the China Barrels he had put a plush teddy with Fire and Ice roses in
their paws, and a note saying to put on the blindfold and wait. I put on the
blindfold and he was behind me rubbing my face and neck all over with one of the
roses. He lead me out to the veranda on the back of the house and lifted the
blindfold. All around the deck were Vanilla scented candles, and in the middle
was a makeshift table with our mattress on it, he gave me a complete body
massage with rose oil, and kissed me all over, telling me how much he loved me.
A few minutes later he pulled out an engagement ring and asked me to marry " A
poor sucker of Romance who loves you to the end of eternity." Of course I said
yes!: ) We have been happy since :)

Exclusive Romantic Dinner Proposal
My husband went all out with his proposal. It was amazing. First he took me to a
wonderful French restaurant that was completely empty aside from us and the
workers. After we ate, our song came on and he asked me to dance. I was already
swept off my feet. Then we sit back down and a monitor came up with a tape of
him telling me what I mean to him, how much he loves me, and so much more. Then
it ended with the video him telling me to look at the real him. When I did, he
had the ring out and asked me to marry me. I was in tears. I find it the best
and most romantic idea ever.

Fairy
Tale Proposal
My boyfriend and I had been going out for 1 year. One Summer night in July,
after we had just finished up at a family picnic he suggested that we do
something different, assuming that "different" was just a night at the mall or
maybe a movie. My premonition looked to be right-on when we pulled into a
mini-shopping plaza. Confused I asked him what was going on because he looked a
little nervous. He said nothing was wrong but we were meeting someone here. Then
he started telling me how much he loved me and how he was so grateful to have me
in his life. I was even more confused when I saw the person that we were waiting
for drive up in a van labeled "balloon services". My boyfriend said, “okay,
let’s go,” and we got in the van and drove to an open field about 20 minutes
away. I continued to ask what was up but the only reply that I received was,
“You'll see.” Finally, as we entered the field, my question was answered; in
front of me stood a hot air balloon and my boyfriend asking if I was ready.
About half way into the ride at 3500 ft. my boyfriend proposed to me. It was the
most romantic, and totally unexpected proposal I could of ever dreamed of, it
was perfect. Of course I said YES, and we will be getting married next year.

Family
Involved Proposal
My girlfriend and I lived in Michigan. Her family all lived in Phoenix. I gave
her the idea that I was going to propose to her at an amusement park in Cedar
Pointe. I knew she would feel like she missed out showing off the ring to her
family, so, a few days before we were to go, I purchased separate airline
tickets to Phoenix. I also had her mom call her to tell her an emergency came up
and that she bought her a ticket to come out at last notice. In hearing this, my
girlfriend was extremely disappointed, but I played along and told her we could
go in a couple of weeks. I ended up leaving 7 hours before her and timed it
perfectly like I was leaving for work. My sister drove her to the airport and on
her way I called from a cell phone on my layover in Pittsburgh. I three-way
called my manager at work so it showed up on caller ID like I was at work. When
I got to Arizona, I arranged a limousine and had him make a sign with her name
on it. She finally got there and had no idea what was going on when she saw the
limo driver. After escorting her to the limo, I went inside the limo and
proposed to her. She had no idea I was in Arizona. Her hands were shaking as she
said yes. The limo driver then took us to an expensive restaurant where her
mother and father were there to also surprise her. We were able to get all this
on video because two of her friends taped it from across the parking lot at the
airport.

Easter Egg Hunt
My boyfriend of 3 years proposed to me this past Easter in the most romantic
way. It was a complete surprise. We had planned on having a picnic at the park
where we practice Salsa dancing on Sunday afternoons. When we drove through the
gate, the ranger handed us a park pamphlet, with an insert announcing an Easter
egg hunt with a twist. It said that colored plastic eggs with letters written on
them are hidden all over the park. With the letters we are to make words
associated with Easter to win prizes. I thought to myself, "This will be fun,"
but was disappointed to see that the park was packed full of cars and people. I
told my boyfriend that we were not going to find a spot or any eggs! He just
calmly told me, "Oh, we'll find a spot." So, we drove up to the park's wedding
knoll (we always dance in the reception area), which as always is blocked off
with a chain. In front, however, is a sign and as we get closer I see that it
reads, "Reserved for Chad." We drive up to the parking lot and I see that there
is a table and chairs for two with wine glasses and a vase of flowers set up in
the middle of the grassy ceremony area. I tell him that he is so good for doing
all this. His response, "I just wanted to make sure we had a spot for our
picnic." So we proceed to have our picnic, (I'm still clueless at this point)
when I noticed a wicker Easter egg on the table. He says my dessert is inside
but I have to wait. I think, "ooh... chocolate." (Duh!) So then we start our
Easter egg hunt and we find a bunch of eggs hidden all over the wedding knoll
area. When we finish, we lay all the eggs on the grass, I sit in a chair and he
kneels down and we make words. We get a whole list going; bunny, Sunday, kids,
eggs, spring, etc. Finally we hit a wall and are unable to come up with any more
words. Then he says, "I got one!" and proceeds to spell out, M-A-R-R-Y M-E, and
then looks up at me with a big grin. I respond with, "Shut up!" He asks me to
open my wicker egg, and I say, "Shut up!" without moving. So, he gets the egg
and opens it to reveal the most absolutely perfect ring (inscribed with, "por
siempre mi amor") and says, "Angie, will you marry me?" I am bawling at this
point, but get out the words, "Yes, yes, yes!!" He puts the ring on, we hug, we
kiss...I cry and we spend the afternoon sipping wine and dancing in what is now
"our park." So, anyway, after all that, I come to find out that the whole thing
was a set up. The flyer in the park pamphlet about the Easter egg hunt was
printed on our computer at home. He had gone to the park that morning to give it
to the ranger, so she could give it to us when we drove in. Also, he did the
letters on all the eggs and hid them himself, so we would find them and he could
spell out MARRY ME. He's so sneaky! It was the most romantic proposal and very
creative! The best part is the feeling that it was blessed by God. It had been
raining every weekend for months, but that Sunday was bright and sunny and
absolutely perfect!

Fireworks
My man is the most romantic man in the world. We went to the beach over Labor
Day and that is where he proposed. We walked down to the ocean and started
shooting fireworks. He kept having me light them and I wondered why and towards
the end of our stack of fireworks he asked me to hand him a rock that was lying
on the beach. I picked it up. It was glowing! Carved into this rock were the
words “Will you marry me?” When I looked at my boyfriend, I saw that he was down
on his knees holding the most beautiful ring in the world. Of course I said yes.
He had made the rock using concrete and a glow stick. It was really sweet and
creative. I love him so much.

that he wanted to go to the river where we had taken a motorcycle ride to when
we first got together. We went back to the spot we had been to before and sat
down on a blanket to enjoy a picnic. After we finished eating he pointed to some
old fishing line and asked me to pull it in to see if there was a lure still on
it. I pulled the line until I saw something come up on the shore; it was a
zip-lock bag with a box or something inside. I opened the bag and the box;
inside was the most beautiful ring I had ever seen! He then asked me if I was
going to keep it or throw it back, of course I said yes!

Forgiveness Proposal
One day last year, I heard that my boyfriend had been cheating on me with
another girl. We got into a huge fight and I wouldn't talk to him. He tried to
call me, but I wouldn't answer, so he left a message on my machine. He said that
he really didn't cheat on me, and that an ex-girlfriend had just been spreading
rumors to make me jealous. He told me to come outside. I walked out my front
door, and there in the snow, completely covering my front lawn were rose petals.
In the middle was a circle of candles with my boyfriend standing within. He came
over to me and he took my hand and told me how sorry he was that he caused me
pain. Then he kissed me, just a peck on the cheek. He told me that it was for
his feelings about his ex-girlfriend. Then he kissed me long and passionately,
and told me that that was for his love for me. He brought me to the center of
the ring of candles, and proposed to me. We kissed until all of the candles had
burned out and it was completely dark. I thought it was a really sweet way for
him to apologize. I found out later that he really didn't cheat on me, and today
we're engaged.

Cookie Proposal
JD and I had been together for almost two years when I came home from my first
year of college. He offered to take me out to dinner to celebrate and asked
where I would like to go. My favorite restaurant makes Chinese and Japanese food
and is called the Tokyo-Mandarin. It's a lot farther away from us than other
places, so it's a treat to get to go there. We ate our dinner and I was upset by
the fortune cookie I received because the wrapper looked like it had been
opened. I looked across the table and JD had this huge smile and tried to play
dumb, asking me, "What's wrong?" I took off the wrapper and I saw a diamond
peeking out of the corner of the fortune cookie!! By the time I broke it open,
he was down on one knee in front of me. He took the ring from me, told me how
much he loved me and asked if I would marry him. I couldn't say anything! Later,
I asked him how he got the ring inside a fortune cookie. He explained: sprinkle
a little bit of water on the cookie then zap it in the microwave for a few
seconds. Hurry up to put the ring inside and close it before it hardens. It may
take a few tries, but it is worth it!

Cookie Proposal II
My boyfriend and I had been dating for 1 1/2 years. March 9th was his 22nd
birthday so the both of us along with our closest friends went to the Chinese
restaurant that we all used to go to when we were in high school. During our
high school years, we would go out to dinner on everyone's birthday and open
each other's fortune cookie. Each person would open the fortune cookie of the
person to their right and read it to them. Well, on the night of my boyfriend's
birthday, we all sat at a huge round table and I started this traditional
fortune cookie reading. This meant that my boyfriend would be reading mine at
the end of the others. It got to my turn and my boyfriend opened my fortune
cookie in my hand and on the fortune, he read an excerpt from Shakespeare and
asked me to marry him! I couldn't believe my ears! I totally didn't expect it
because it was his birthday! We have now been married for 2 years.

My fiancee and I met couple of years ago at a party, then shortly after, he
traveled. We kept in touch over the Internet. He came back at Christmas time on
the 14th of December (his birthday) so, I prepared him a little surprise. We
went out to dinner in a very romantic place. After the dinner, the waitresses
came by with a cake and when they were done singing Happy Birthday to him, one
of them said, “And because it is your engagement night we will sing "Love Me
Tender.” I looked at them and told them it wasn’t our engagement night. Well, my
fiancée got mad because he had planned to propose to me before they started
singing (he had set this up with them). It was so funny and I don't think we

Guess
What’s for Dinner…
I had hinted to my guy that I wanted a diamond ring for quite some time, but
soon gave up the idea because I understand his financial situation. He was still
in the army, which paid little. One night, at his house, he cooked noodles for
us. When I was eating, he came up from behind and said that he cooked something
else too. I thought he had cooked eggs as I remembered that he cooks eggs
sometimes with noodles. The plate had a cover on it and when I took it off,
there was a white box on it. I was shocked that he was willing to fork out that
much of money to make me happy. It was the diamond ring that I had been eyeing.
What he said next was most touching; he told me that he didn’t have much money
but he was willing to spend it all on me. I practically melted. The moment was
made more touching as he was preparing to leave for training in Australia the
next day. Guys are not really romantic at times, but my guy comes out tops!

Me, He Loves Me Not Proposal
This is a story I heard on the radio once and it won my heart. A gentleman took
a large daisy to his girlfriend one casual afternoon and insisted she pluck off
each petal saying out loud "He loves me, He loves me not." The last petal she
plucked left her on "He loves me not." She looked at him and shrugged her
shoulders and handed it back. The man then got down on one knee, pulled a ring
box out of his pocket, and held it up to her. When she opened the box she found
a beautiful diamond ring slipped around the last daisy petal.

Heart of
Hearts
This is an idea that I JUST thought of. What you guys (or non old-fashioned
girls) can do to give them the perfect romantic proposal is as you’re walking to
go somewhere say, "Oh, I forgot something in the car I was going to give you
before we left." Then come back with roses and a giant heart-shaped box of
chocolates and a note saying, "Our love so sweet and true will always lie in the
heart of our hearts." Then, when she opens the box, have the middle chocolate
removed and replaced with the engagement ring. Then, get down on your knees and
propose. I think she'd like that one.

mitt said, "You." The 3rd said "Marry," and when I made it to home base, the
catcher’s (who was my boyfriend), mitt said "Me?" - and in it was a ring. I

together. On the day they had gone to sign the papers to close on the house, he
had a close friend stop by the house and prepare the "scene". He had over a
dozen red roses spread all over the counter and then another dozen in a vase, in
front of the vase was the ring he designed himself inside the open ring box.
When they decided to stop by the house, he let her walk in first so she could
see what he had planned. I thought it was so cute!

How to
Respond to His Proposal
Being a bit of a traditionalist, I want my boyfriend to be the one to propose,
but I want him to know that I had thought about it and I wholeheartedly wanted
to. So for his birthday this year I bought a glass bottle with a wide neck, a
ring and got some sand. On the inside of the ring I had inscribed, "Yes because
I love you." I wrapped up the ring to stop it from being damaged, placed it in
the bottle and added the sand so you couldn't see the ring. I then sealed it all
up with candle wax so I’d know if he’s cheated and peeked. And on the day he
asks me, I will say maybe… and make him wait until he has the bottle of sand.
That way both of us have had our own little surprise! As of yet he hasn't asked
but neither has he peeked so I'm on an even par. This is not one for those with
boyfriends who are too curious or you could be answering awkward questions!!

You No Matter What
It was the summer before my freshman year in college and I had gone to the mall
earlier that day to buy a card for my boyfriend. The card was to put his worries
to rest about me finding someone else since our schools were an hour apart. He
called me on my cell phone while I was shopping to let me know he had a surprise
for me as well. He was waiting for me at my house when I pulled in the driveway
and followed me inside. I handed him his card and a teddy bear I had bought him.
He told me to close my eyes and wait. I felt something soft in my hands and
opened my eyes. It was a stuffed Pooh Bear on a key chain dressed like a bunny.
I was a little confused that he had gotten so excited over a key chain, but I
smiled at him anyway, it was cute. He told me to take the ears off (it was like
a hat). As I removed the ears, I saw the sparkle of a diamond ring. He told me
that no matter how far away we were from each other, he would always love me. I
melted, and I can't wait to walk down the aisle in two years with him!

I
Proposed To Him
When my boyfriend of 7 months told me he was never going to get married unless a
woman asked him, I was surprised. I had always prepared my self to say yes to
him when he did, but now I had to change the plan and ask him. On my birthday,
he took me out for a romantic dinner in an Italian restaurant. I wanted to read
to him a letter I wrote telling him about my feelings and what I wanted out of
our relationship. During our main course, I started reading it slowly, looking
at his face every once and a while to see his expressions. I then suddenly got
out of my chair and walked towards him, while still reading the letter. When I
got to the part in the letter where I wrote that I was going to propose to him I
told him to hold the letter for a minute, knelt before him and told him it was
going to be my honor if I could be his wife. The look on his face was priceless;
he looked at me and with tears filled eyes. Everyone in the restaurant was
looking at us... I was crying out of joy and was the happiest woman on earth.
This is a birthday I will never forget :)

In Lieu
of a Ring
My boyfriend was in the Navy in Florida and I went down to visit him. He met me
at the airport and had a rose and and a "I Love You" teddy bear. He told me he
loved me, for the first time in person that day. Then he took me to the hotel
where I was staying. He said he had gone by ahead of time to make sure it was
all set. I walked into the room and there was a little jewelry box on my pillow.
Inside were diamond earrings. Two days later, we were at the base, in the
lounge, and he went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He said the
earrings were in place of a ring because he couldn't afford a diamond ring yet
but he had been too scared to ask me then. I can't imagine a better or more
romantic proposal than that.

Key To
My Heart Proposal
One morning my boyfriend of decided to come to my house at 6:00 with a huge
surprise. (He has a key to my house.) While I was still sleeping, he somehow
managed to tape a piece of string to my bedroom ceiling a little over my bed
with a note hanging down from it. The note read: Look under your pillow. When I
did, I found a key and another note that told me to go downstairs. And at the
end of my stairs was a little wooden box with a keyhole. I put the key in and
opened it up. Right as I did that, my boyfriend stepped out from around the
staircase and asked me to marry him. I turned to look back at the box and found
the little ring box inside the bigger wooden box. I was so thrilled and it was
very romantic!

Love For
A Lifetime
My boyfriend had a very unique and special way of proposing to me. One Friday
night after work, we were planning on just picking up some dinner and lying
around the house for the evening. He went straight home after work and had me
stop and pick the food up on my way over. I walked through his front door about
20 minutes after he had gotten home and walked into the kitchen where he was.
All the lights were off and he had set the table and had candles sitting
everywhere. He also bought me roses, which were sitting in the middle of the
table along with about a dozen cards that we had given to each other over the
years plus a new card. Next he had me sit down and he brought the food to me and
we ate as we read the cards along with some of our old e-mails. After dinner he
told me he had an early Christmas present for me back in his room. We walked
back into his room and he had bought me a big, wooden chest that was sitting on
the floor at the end of his bed with a bow and a rose on it. He had also lit
candles everywhere in his room along with some more of our old cards. We took a
few minutes to read the cards and then he asked me to open the chest. When I
opened the chest I was very surprised. He had taped cards, e-mails, notes and
everything else we had given to each other to the inside and had filled the
bottom with all of our special things. All of this meant a lot to me because
over the past two years we have been through a lot together and were finally
getting to the point where we could be completely happy and do the things we
could only dream about in years past. He had not only saved everything but had
put them in order in the chest. Then he had me read a few things and played our
very first song to each other. He had me read more and played another song. We
read and re-lived memories together, listened to all the songs on a CD he made
for me, songs that got us through when things were tough, and we also danced
together. It was amazing! Just when I thought I was having the best night of my
life, he asked me to sit down. He reached into the chest and brought out two
picture frames. He handed me the first one and when I saw what he had done my
heart just stopped. He had typed the words to our new song and framed it for me.
It was beautiful not to mention the sweetest thing ever. Then he handed me the
second frame. The second frame was titled, A LOVE FOR A LIFETIME, which is the
title of the first book we had ever read together. Underneath the title he had
typed several promises to me and ended it by asking me to marry him. When I was
finished reading it, he handed me a box. In the box was the prettiest ring I had
ever seen. I was speechless, but after a few seconds, I said, “YES!” We had a
wonderful night and we are getting married in September. It was the most
memorable and best night of my life and I am the luckiest woman alive to be
sitting here today engaged to the most wonderful man in the world. He is my
everything.

Hunt Proposal
I am about to propose to my girlfriend in 13 days - I’m very excited ! This is
how I am planning on doing it: (a lot of inspiration taken from various entries
here and put together for my idea), her sister will be taking her out to lunch,
naturally I will have tipped the waiters to take their time, definitely no rush
needed. As they eat their lunch, I will be preparing the game. Her room will be
filled with balloons, each with either rose petals or notes inside, and on the
door before she enters will be a note saying "You might need this" accompanied
by a safety pin. As she works through the balloons, the notes will have various
reasons/explanations as to why I love her and why she means so much to me.
Behind all of the balloons will be a custom made teddy bear, with a recording of
me reciting a poem I hired someone to write (using my expressions and emotions
though, I just can't word it in poetry) - but without any batteries. It will be
holding a note telling her to take the bear and go outside, where a limo will be
waiting. The limo will take her to a place in the local park, where a battery
will be waiting for her, and as she puts it in and listens to the poem, I will
come up to her and finish the poem with the big question ... wish me luck!

Love Is
Patient
My fiancé and I have been together for 8 years. We have been living together for
6. For a long time I knew that marriage was not his cup of tea. I had stopped
pressuring him years ago. So, I never expected anything like what he did.
October 29th, he took me to a very nice Chinese restaurant at a hotel. We had a
long and very deep conversation about us. At the end of the dinner, the
traditional fortune cookies arrived. When I opened my fortune, it said "Will you
marry me?" It was truly the shock of my life. He went down on his knees and
asked me again and gave me the most beautiful diamond ring that I have ever
seen. Our wedding will be next year. My family’s thoughts: "Finally!"

Makin'
Memories
My husband proposed to me on an overcast summer day while we were lounging by a
small lake in Virginia. It was the first hint of marriage in our relationship.
We hadn't even talked about it. After that it was 5 months until I got the ring
and the second and official proposal. He sent me on a scavenger hunt of places
that had special meaning to us while we were dating. He involved my best friend
and my sister in the plan. The hunt started one evening when they gave me a 3x5
card with three words on it. These were clues to take me to the first place. It
was the lake where we first talked to each other. There I found a long stem red
rose, a card with his memories and thoughts of that first day and a second 3x5
card with three more words directing me to the next spot. There were 12 places
in all - 12 red roses and 12 cards with his feelings about me and our memories
together. Some of the places were a favorite restaurant, a movie theater, a park
we frequented, where we went on our first date, the trailhead of a favorite
hike. The hunt led me to a beautiful resort up in the mountains where I found
him with the last rose and card. He led me to a quiet spot and got down on his
knees in the snow and proposed. It was amazing. And the inside of my ring had
the words "Makin' Memories" engraved along with our wedding date.

Many
Roses
The most romantic proposal that one could ever think of was the one that my
fiancé gave to me. One day, my then boyfriend asked if I wanted to come over to
his place with some friends to watch a movie. Of course I said yes and I went
there after I got off work. Well, when I got there, I opened the door not to
find all of our friends, but to dimmed lights, and all I could see were roses.
He had bought ten dozen roses and put them in 10 different vases along with many
tea light candles placed around the vases. On the coffee table were roses and
tea light candles that spelled out “I LOVE YOU.” As I opened the door the rest
of the way, I saw him on his knee and there were rose petals all over the floor
around him. He had the bracelet that I wore on our first date. He put it on my
wrist and said, "This is what started our relationship," and then he put the
ring on my finger and said, “this is what will keep it going forever." It was
the most romantic thing ever!

My then-boyfriend, JR, took my daughter and me to our favorite place: the ocean,
for Mother's Day this year. We drove up and down Highway 1 and stopped at
numerous lookouts. At one right outside of Bodega Bay, he told me to close my
eyes while he went to the car. When he got back, he told me how much he loved me
and my daughter. Then he pulled out a gorgeous engagement ring and slipped it on
my finger. He knelt down on a patch of wildflowers and asked me those four
words, "Will you marry me?" Of course I said yes! We're getting married in

Picnic Proposal
My boyfriend and I had been dating for about 6 months and we had just finished
our junior year of college. We had to split up for the summer because we both
knew we would make more money if we went home to work for the summer. We were so
used to seeing each other every day that we both almost cried when we said
goodbye. I live in Illinois, and he lives in Idaho, so we knew we wouldn’t
really get to see each other. After he had been there for a few weeks, he
decided that he would be making enough money to buy me a plane ticket so I could
come visit him. We had talked about getting married, but we were both completely
broke, so I wasn't expecting to get engaged anytime soon. While I was out
visiting him one night we decided after dinner to go rent a movie and watch it
in his basement. As we left for the video store I noticed we weren't going the
way of the video store. He said he wanted to go somewhere else first, so I said
okay and didn't ask any questions. We drove up into the mountains. When we got
to the top, he got in the back of the Durango and pulled out a picnic basket. We
walked up a little path to a nice spot by a cliff with a beautiful view. He
unpacked the picnic while I walked off too look at some of the view. We had
strawberries, whipped cream, grapes, crackers, cheese, and sparkling cider
(since we don't drink). After we ate we were sitting and enjoying the view. Then
he looked at me and said, "These mountains are really beautiful, but they're
nothing next to you." And he pulled out an AMAZING ring! (Bigger than my
mother’s ring!) We stayed up on the mountain and watched the sun set, then we
drove down and saw all the beautiful city lights sparkling! He had been planning
the whole thing all summer!!

Night Proposal
My boyfriend of 2 years decided to take me out for a movie one night. Since it's
pretty typical for us to go see a movie, I didn't think anything of it. He
insisted we get there early. So, we walked into the theater as they were playing
ads and the word games on the screen. We were even making a little competition
over who could figure them out first. All of a sudden a different ad appeared on
the screen. It said, "Leigha, Will You Marry Me? Love, Mike" I about died in my
chair as he got down on one knee and put the ring on my finger. It was so sweet
that he went through the trouble of buying an ad just to ask the question.

For my proposal to my girlfriend, I took her to the movies, it is one of our
favorite things to do. Many theaters have advertisements that run like a slide

and waited for the movie to start, my spot came up and in huge letters on the

Exhibit Proposal
I was a poor art student in college living 17 hours away from my girlfriend. I
wanted to propose to her in my own unique way. So, I wrote out my true feelings
for her on illustration board. I then made it look over 100 years old by
applying an aging varnish, and crackling varnish. I had it framed in an 18th
century style frame I bought at a cheap art store. Then I arranged with the
exhibit director at the local museum in her town to have it hung in a gallery
space. (The director didn't charge me, she loved the idea) I surprised my
girlfriend on her graduation weekend by flying in. (Before I saw her I had
stopped at the museum to drop off my framed piece). My girlfriend had to run
errands all day for her graduation, but I asked her if we could stop at the
museum. I explained to her (and lied to her) that a friend of mine from art
school happened to have some work on display at the local art museum. I told her
I realized she was busy that day but if we could just stop in and see it because
it was the last day for his exhibit. We stopped in and I let her walk in the
room and look at the art work. Finally she saw a piece of writing hung on the
wall that had her name at the top. She read it and finally realized I had done
it! By the time she got to the end I was on one knee, and proposed! She loved
it, and the best part was she got to show all her classmates her ring and tell
the story at graduation!

Gift
One of my best friends is a fabulous singer. We had a singing class together
where we were both selected to sing at an honors recital. We had to dress up and
sing in front of this big audience. Her boyfriend was there with her and his
family as well. They were video taping it. Our director came up after everyone
performed and called up my friend to the stage. He handed her this white box
that had a big bow on it and sat back down. I thought that perhaps she won a
special award or something. She opened the box, and inside was a note that said,
"Will you marry me?” Her boyfriend came up to the stage and kneeled down to ask
her to be his wife. It was a wonderful way to propose in front of all of her
friends and family and to announce his love to the world!

My
Proposal To Him
My boyfriend leaves for work at 6 a.m. every morning. I sleep in until 8, so
he's usually gone when I wake up. He is deaf so he can't hear the alarm clock go
off-- which is convenient for my plan. (For those without hearing disabilities,
find a more discrete way of waking up first.) I set the alarm for 5:30, which
gave me enough time to tape a huge poster board to his windshield saying "Will
You Marry Me?" decorated with pictures, words and phrases of special moments
that made me fall so much in love with him. He had to walk back in and see what
this was all about-- I greeted him at the door with a long, passionate kiss
while slipping the ring on his finger. He went to work that day bragging to all
the guys. And when he came home, we shared a romantic evening at his favorite
restaurant-- my treat. Goes to show that women can give great proposals too!

My boyfriend had bought me a ring that needed resizing. It was supposed to take
a week. On the day it was supposed to be ready, he picked me up from university,
and told me that the ring wasn't ready because the jewelers were busy and it
would be ready tomorrow. I was upset. When we got home, he told me to check my
email, and there was a message from him to tell me to look in a computer game
box sitting on a shelf. I looked and there was the ring, all beautifully wrapped
up. He got it on the day it was supposed to be ready and hidden it in a box. He

It was my Graduation and my boyfriend was really excited about his gift to me. I

was a little reminder of our terrific past together. The fourth sleeve said to
go to the next gift. That gift was a poem in a picture frame that he had written
about wanting to spend the rest of his life with me. Then I went to the last
sleeve. It contained a beautiful diamond promise ring! I was so surprised. I had
no idea. That was the sweetest thing he could have ever done. It was perfect.

Proposal Puzzle
My boyfriend and I had been dating for 6 months when he proposed. It was 2 days
before Christmas. When I walked into my office there was an envelope that said
"Do Not Open Until 8 a.m. Christmas Morning". So on Christmas morning I opened
it; it told me to call a number I had never seen before. Of course, I was
cursing under my breath wondering what was going on, but I called. The person
that answered was actually one of my co-workers. They asked me a question which
I answered and then gave me another number to call. This went on for three
questions total. The questions were:
1)What was the name of the character Matt Damon plays in “Good Will Hunting”,
2)What is another name for a sheep,
3)What is the name of Jesus's mother?
When you answer the questions they came out to "Will You Marry." The last person
had told me to open the door. When I did, my boyfriend was there holding up a
sign that said "me." I read the question out loud, "Will You Marry Me?" and my
boyfriend answered, “Yes.” We've been married for 3 years now.

They brought along the camera, and my dad was taking pictures of my mom all day.
At some point along the trip, Dad managed to sneak the ring inside the camera
where the film is supposed to go. He then asked my mom to take pictures of him.
Well, the camera didn't work ... so, he told her to check if there was film in

Proposal
My fiancé proposed to me in the most romantic and fun way I could ever imagine.
First I have to explain how we met; there was a pen pal website that I saw his
pen pal ad on and I decided to write him an e-mail. He's from Maine and I'm from
Oklahoma. We have been together for a year and 3 months now. We talked for 3
months and could tell it was love at first instant message. He moved to Oklahoma
and about 3 months later he proposed to me. He picked me up from work one day
and asked me if I loved him, and I said yes. He then placed a paper bag with a
breathing hole in it on my head and told me not to peek and to trust him. He
drove around the town we lived in for about 45 minutes until I was so confused.
He stopped then helped me out of the car and told me to hold his hand and follow
him. I did. We stopped after walking outside for about 20 minutes. He told me to
keep my eyes closed and stand still. He then turned me the direction he wanted
me facing and took the bag off of my head. I kept my eyes closed. He was behind
me I could hear him. He told me to keep facing forward and not turn around and
to open my eyes. When I did there was a picnic basket with a poem on it asking
me to marry him. He had taken me to the park we went to for our first picnic. I
began to cry as I read the poem. He took my hand from behind, turned me around,
and he was on one knee with a ring box. It was so romantic and special. He had
packed all my favorite foods in the basket. I still have the poem that asked me
to marry him.

Countdown With Roses
The idea is simple and makes for fun with your love. Shortly after we first
started dating, I gave my then girlfriend a single rose and told her that the
twelfth rose would come with a ring. There are no patterns on when the roses
were given. She got her second rose two months later and on Valentines Day she
got 5. On June 4, 2004 she received number 12 hidden beneath a bouquet of what
looked like orchids. I had bought her a new baby blue dress, and had her try it
on. When she came out I gave her the orchids and got down on one knee and asked
her to marry me. She stood there at first shocked, asking if I was serious. She
knew the twelfth rose was the indicator, but she wouldn't believe I was
proposing until she saw it. Once she found the rose hidden under the orchids,
she hugged me. I asked if that was a yes and she nodded her head to let me know
it was.

Hunt
This is my idea, and I'm probably going to use within the year... First, I talk
to her boss at work, and arrange to have her scheduled for a day when she
doesn't really have to work. When she shows up that day, her boss tells her they
don't need her and she can go home, but hands her a note (from me) which is the
start of a series of poetic clues. The gist of it is the first clue indicates
she should go to the place where we first met (cab fare included with this
clue). When she gets there, the second clue hints at the place we had our first
dance (keys to a car included with this clue). When she gets there, she finds
another clue hinting at the place we had our first kiss. At the end, the last
clue sends her to her favorite outdoor spot, where she will find a toy shovel
and uses a treasure map drawn on the back of the clue to dig up a treasure chest
jewelry box, containing the engagement ring. When she gets it up and finds the
ring, I come up behind her, drop to one knee and tell her she is my treasure,
and ask her to be my wife.

Intermission
I actually helped a friend with his proposal. Knowing that his girlfriend's
favorite movie was "My Fair Lady." We made a copy of the movie, and about 30
minutes into it we added our own scene. I recorded a scene of him sitting on the
couch where they'd be watching the movie, dressed in the same clothes he'd be
wearing on the day he proposed. In the scene, he said that he knew that she
loved the movie, and hoped she wouldn't mind if he interrupted. While the
onscreen version asked her to marry him, he was patting his pockets (play
acting), looking for the ring, but didn't find it. So his "onscreen character"
asked him while he was on the couch if he had the ring, at which point he pulled
it out and presented it to her. Since the proposal is on tape, it's a memory
that they have forever.

One night, exactly at 12 midnight, I called her and asked her to look out of her

turned on to form “I LOVE YOU.” Earlier that day in the afternoon, I went to the

lights were turned off, it was a magical moment. The next day she said yes to my

Roses
This is how I proposed to my girlfriend of 4 years, (every time she tells
someone how I proposed she ends up in tears): I bought 3 roses, 1 yellow, 1
pink, and of course 1 red. I proposed to her on her birthday. I was the last
person to show up – well, you know I was really nervous of course. There were
family and friends at her party, most of them knew what I was about to do. I
called everyone outside and I was holding 3 roses. Little did she know that the
ring was in the red rose. So, everyone came outside and her dad had some friends
there that played mariachi music and they started to play. They played 1 love
song first and they played happy birthday afterwards. I stood there holding the
3 roses with my girlfriend and got everyone's attention. I then presented the
yellow rose and said, "This is for our past," next the pink rose and said, "this
one is for our present," and finally, with the red rose, I got down on one knee
and said, "this is for our future," and I proposed to which, of course, she said
yes. I proposed to her July 20, 2003 and we set our wedding date October 2,
2004. I can't wait till that day comes!

Proposing On The Wings Of Love
My boyfriend and I met online in July 2000. We're still together today, and he
lives 1300 miles away. He came down to where I live one month to stay for a
couple of weeks, and he said he had a surprise for me when he got here. I was
just thinking it'd be a stuffed animal or something, but instead, when I picked
him up at the airport, he had a few people off of the airplane sing our song
while he proposed to me right at the airport after I greeted him. It was so
romantic, I cried so much, and of course, I told him, yes. We're getting married

Restaurant Proposal
My boyfriend and I had been dating for 1 year and 10 months. He is 24 and I am
18. I just graduated from high school. I had an idea that he was going to
propose to me, but had no clue as to when. A few weeks before he asked me, I had
hurt my knee and had to have surgery. So, I was in this really big cast and had
to walk on crutches everywhere we went. The Friday before I graduated, he took
me out to eat at a kind of fancy restaurant, but was limited to a not so fancy
one because of my leg. Anyways, the dinner was going great and he said he had to
get up and use the restroom. We ordered dessert and when it came out I saw
something on the napkin. It was a ring! He got down on his knee, in front of
everyone, and asked me to marry him. He told me he promised to love me in
sickness and in health, since I was sick at the time. Of course I said yes and
everyone started to clap. He told me later that night that when he went to the
restroom he gave the ring to the waitress and she went around and told everyone
to watch. I was so embarrassed, but at the same time I felt so happy. I am
leaving in about 2 months to go to college for 2 years, and then we are getting
married. We are so happy and in love!!! Guys try this on your love, and she'll
keep you forever!

Rings
We had been together for about 5 months when my boyfriend had told me that he
wanted to be with me forever and always. Every night before we would hang up the
phone he would say, “Forever and always”. One day he came to my house and while
we were sitting on my bed he handed me a ring box. When I opened it, there was a
glow in the dark skull ring (I love gothic looking stuff). I kissed him and told
him he was sweet. I put the ring back into the box because it was made for a kid
and it didn’t fit me. Later, when we were on the computer, he handed me the box
and asked if I wanted to see the ring again. I smiled and said okay but when I
opened the box there was a gold ring with three small diamonds in it. I looked
at him and he signed forever and always to me (we use ASL so not to let others
know). We are now planning to get married in about 2 years. I love him so much!

Romantic
Proposal!
I thought of many ways to ask my girlfriend to marry me. So one day I showed up
at her job with a Limo. Whisked her out to the Airport. Upon landing, into
another Limo she went. We stepped out of the second Limo right along side of the
Golden Gate Bridge. Before she knew it I was on my knees asking for her precious
hand in marriage. All this while the sun was going down and the background of
the Bridge sparkled like her finger.

Rose
Proposal
My girlfriend and I had this huge fight over some stupid thing (something like
what are we going to do for the summer break). It even went so far that she told
me that she never wants to talk to me again. I was hurt, but I also knew that
she was hurt. So, after a while of being lonely and miserable I decided to stomp
on my pride and make things up. I went to my friend at the dean's office and
asked for an official envelope and official letter. In it, I asked her to come
to the main lawn behind the dean's office, tomorrow around 6 p.m. . I got up at
5:30 in the morning, bought 73 red roses (all they had in the shop) and ripped
the petals off. In the evening, before she came, I put them all over the lawn
(luckily, it wasn't windy). She came and she saw me standing there with one
white rose in my hand. She slowly came up to me and looked me in the eyes, like
only she does. And well, I kissed her... For about an hour. And then I gave her
the rose and told her to take the petals off. She did that, and as she came to
the core, she found a ring that I had put there. Well, guess what? This all
happened while we were in the college (1 yr ago) and now, we are happily married
and expecting a baby.

Rubber
Ducky Proposal
Get a rubber ducky and tie the ring around his neck with rope or use a chain or
something like that. On the ducky, write "Will you marry me?" Next, draw a bath
for the two of you. After the tub has filled, put the ducky in the water. Then
make a trail of roses leading into the bathroom. Light candles around the tub
and turn out the lights. Leave a trail of rose petals leading up to the tub and
add a few to the water. Have your fiancé follow the trail into the bathroom
where he/she will find you and the ducky waiting.

Santa
Baby Proposal
My boyfriend, who is now my husband, had a very romantic Christmas Eve planned
one year. He had this sweet idea to go to the nearest group home for kids and
volunteer to be Santa Claus. I thought this was so sweet that before he came
home that night I dressed up in a Mrs. Claus outfit that I bought from a
lingerie store down the block. I was sitting on the couch we had in his
apartment next to the Christmas tree. I had turned all the lights off and lit 24
candles all around the living room just like his family used to do. I knew it
would make him extra happy when he came home. I left once candle unlit, so he
could light it before we made love. When he came home I was waiting in the dim
candlelight. I got up from the couch and walked gracefully over to him and
kissed him. Then I took his hand and guided him over to the very last unlit
candle. After he lit it he gave me the biggest and most loving surprise I had
ever received. He got down on one knee and asked, “Will you marry me?” Then he
pulled out a red velvet box and inside held a diamond and garnet ring in white
gold. I said yes and hugged him and gave him a long passionate kiss and then we
made love all night in the dim candlelight we lit together.

Santa's
Best Present
My Fiancé and I had been together for almost two years. He had recently joined
the Marines and had left for training. It was around Christmas time and I was up
in Connecticut visiting my family and friends. I was disappointed that my
boyfriend at the time would not be home in time for the holidays. One night, my
whole family and some friends went out to an outdoor ice-skating rink that I
used to go to all the time as a child. After awhile, a man dressed up as Santa
led me over to an open canopy that was lit up by Christmas lights, Poinsettia
plants and snow covering the ground. He turned out to be my boyfriend and we
danced to our song while it snowed. (Man-made of course because the weather did
not cooperate.) At the end of the song, rosebuds started falling down along with
the snow and while I was distracted; he took off the glove on my left hand and
slipped a ring on. After a second of amazement, he got down on one knee and
asked me to be his wife. The top of the canopy was laced with mistletoe so we
couldn't leave without a Christmas kiss.

Scotland
Proposal
We were traveling in Scotland, to an old but beautiful castle with a tour group.
When we got to the room with the thrones, he pulled me aside and we looked at
the sun setting over the hill through a cracked stone window. After commenting
on how gorgeous it was, snuggling in each other’s arms, we start playing around
and I carelessly commented, "I wonder what it would have been like to be a
queen?" He then kissed my hand and led my to the throne where he motioned me to
sit, which I did. He said, "No queen could be without diamonds." Then he got
down on one knee and told me that no woman could ever make him as happy as I do
and that he wanted to spend the last of his days together and that he would love
nothing more than to wake up every morning with a queen in his bed and would I
spend the rest of my life with him as his wife? I don’t think I have ever cried
so hard and of course I said yes!

Secret
Wishes
When my boyfriend and I were dating, we used to take nightly strolls in a park
right by my apartment. One night, we saw a falling star, and we were both so
excited we made secret wishes. Four years later, my boyfriend took me to the
park to have an afternoon picnic. We walked around the park for almost an hour
before we found the "right spot." After eating, he took my hand and kissed it.
Then he said something that changed my life. He said, "Four years ago, we stood
at this exact spot, looking at the night sky. We saw a falling star and I wished
that I could spend the rest of my life with you. Today, I am here to ask you if
you'll make that wish come true... Will you marry me?" My heart skipped a beat
and, of course, I accepted.

Spontaneous Proposal
How my proposal happened: he came over to my house after an evening out with a
friend and asked if I'd like to come along on their trip to Las Vegas that
upcoming weekend. I'd never been to Las Vegas, so I said yes. Later that
evening, he said "You know I'm going to marry you some day," to which I replied
"I hope so." A few hours later, after we had just gone to bed, he asked "How do
you feel about eloping?" When I said that I liked that idea, he then said "Marry
me in Vegas this weekend." I said yes and three days later we were married in
Las Vegas in front of six friends who dropped everything to be there for our
special day.

Startling Proposal Surprise
Here's how my proposal was set up: every year in my hometown the civic center
hosts a skating session. I planned the details with the Chief of Police so that
during one of the sessions, I left for a few minutes to take a mutual friend of
ours to go get some cigarettes leaving my girlfriend to skate by herself for a
little while. While I was gone, the Chief stopped the skating for a "special
announcement." He called her out and said there was a problem and that she
needed to go with him down to the station. He told her that they would just walk
across to his car that was at the exit on the other side of the rink, because it
was shorter than going around the whole arena. As they made their way across the
ice, all the lights went out and a spotlight shined down on them. Then I had the
DJ play our song over the stadium audio system. Now, utterly confused and not
knowing where I was, she hardly expected me to come skating out in my Marine
Corps Dress-blue uniform and ask her to marry me. (Reason for going to get
cigarettes was really an excuse to make my way to the bathroom and change into
the uniform that I had dropped off at the box office the night before). Needless
to say, she was quite startled and surprised!

Sweet
Proposal
Approximately 1 year after my sweetie and I had been dating, I set up a proposal
idea. I am the woman, so I knew it would be a complete surprise. I bought the
ring from a jewelry store that he and I had been at before, picked a park with a
beautiful lake and picnic table and had my sister drive before me and set up the
candlelight dinner. Then, I drove my husband to what he thought was a family
cookout. I let him to the table and he realised it was for him. We ate, laid on
the grass and cuddled, and then I took him to a hotel where we had a bubble bath
and his favorite dessert. Inside the Key Lim Pie, was the ring. I got down on
one knee and proposed. He was so surprised and happy. We are going on three
years of marriage now.

Teddy
Bear II
My baby doll and I have teddy bears that we made for each other. Mine is a
cowboy cause I rope and ride. Her's is a mail lady cause she is a mail lady. We
both keep them on our bed. So one day before she got home from work I took the
clothes off the bear and covered it in thorns from roses, that way she couldn't
touch it, if she did she would get pricked. I was hiding in her closet and when
she came into the room to see her bear I jumped out of the closet with the roses
missing the thorns. I told her to carefully pluck off each thorn then take one
and tear open the bear. Inside was a big ring. I then got down on one knee and
told her, “Every rose has its thorn but in my eyes you have none, will you be my
teddy bear forever?” She cried and said yes. She has the ripped up teddy bear in
a frame to this day.

Tennis
Anyone?
My girlfriend and I both play tennis. So I of course decided to propose to her
on the tennis courts in front of about 40 to 50 people. I also have 2 kids from
a previous marriage and she has none and my kids also participated. It went like
this: We are both on a tennis league that would start on Tue. nights. I had two
guys with camcorders filming the whole proposal and one guy with a camera. Since
it was the first night of the league (Feb. 10) and she runs it, she was giving
instructions about what to do in the league. This took about 10 min. Then
immediately after that, a friend of mine gave her a can of tennis balls and my
girlfriend was instructed to read each ball out to the crowd. Of course the
first ball she pulled out said, “Will” and then the second said, “You” and the
third said, “Marry” and the fourth ball was with me. By now she had figured out
what was up. Immediately right after she finished reading the tennis balls, my
kids came out one at a time. First my son, Justin, came out with 1/2 dozen roses
and gave them to her and told her please say yes. And then my daughter, Andrea,
was following him and she did the same thing. And right after that I came out
with a beautiful Valentine’s vase holding a dozen roses in them. I also had a CD
player that was all set up to play our love song which I was going to turn on by
remote as I walked up, but I was too nervous and totally forgot. Then I was
going to recite a beautiful poem which I had also forgotten. I knew I would be
too nervous to remember so, being prepared, I had it written on my hand, but it
was smeared due to my sweating from being completely nervous. Instead, I
basically said this to her, "Honey, I had something beautiful I was going to say
to you, but I forgot and then I decided to write it on my hand and now it's
smeared, so I feel like God is speaking to me and I am going to speak from my
heart," and I did. I handed her the roses in one hand and I gave her the last
tennis ball with the writing on it that said "Me?” And then I was on my knees
asking for her hand in marriage. I had also told her that I could have easily
proposed to her on Valentine’s Day but I told her she is special and Feb. 10 is
her Valentine’s Day and she deserves a special day like that all to herself. She
later told me that she was in such a state of shock that she had her hand on her
mouth and was just so surprised and was praying to God that she didn’t pass out
and all she wanted to do the whole time was give me a big kiss. Then immediately
afterwards the whole tennis crowd cheered for us and I played our love song that
we danced to with the crowd cheering in the background. It wasn't easy and I am
a very shy man, but it's amazing what we can do when we are in love.

The
Proposal
My fiance and I had been dating for about three months. He went to the Bahamas
for a week on a mission trip. The next week, I went on a church trip with our
youth group as a chaperone. So we didn't see each other for about two weeks.
When I got back from camp on Friday, he gave me an invitation to a candle-light
dinner for two. On Saturday, he picked me up. I wore a dress and he had on a
shirt, pants, and a tie. He looked really great. We went to his house. We had
the house to ourselves because his family had gone out of town. He made me close
my eyes and led me into the dining room where I could hear soft, romantic music
playing. I opened my eyes and saw the most beautiful table setting that I had
ever seen. There were roses on the table. He had pulled out his mother's china,
and there was a bottle of sparkling grape juice on the table. It was beautiful.
Well, we had a salad, a steak and a baked potato. After we finished eating, he
told me to close my eyes. He said that he was bringing dessert and I had to
taste it and guess what it was. Well, when he got back in the dining room, he
knelt down in front of me. He said, "I want you to make me the happiest man in
the world. Will you marry me?" Wow!! I said yes and opened my eyes. He was
holding the most beautiful diamond ring that I have ever seen in my life. We
have been engaged for three months now and the years ahead of us will be the
greatest ever.

The
Proposal of a Lifetime
Tomorrow, I am proposing to my girlfriend of 4 1/2 yrs. My girlfriend believes
she is going to a seminar through her company. (She goes on quite a few during
the year). I called her boss and told her to send her on a seminar on
'Leadership' (which I will be hosting). I rented out a conference room at the
'Sheraton' hotel (they were great - gave me a really good deal!). I managed to
gather a group of 10 people to take part in the seminar with a professional
presenter. I designed a nice PowerPoint presentation and at the end, the
presenter is going to show a video on 'Lifetime Leaders - The Proposal of a
Lifetime” - at this point, a slideshow of my girlfriend and I will appear and in
the background our song will be playing. At the end of the video, there will be
a taping of myself, telling her how much I love her. At that point, I will walk
into the boardroom and propose.

Proposal
My perfect proposal idea is rather simple yet romantic. He takes me to see a
movie we both have been waiting to watch; we arrive late (according to his plan
of course) and by the time we arrive in the theater the lights are out and the
previews are getting ready to start. The theater is a little full so we sit in
the seats down near the front row. The previews begin and the screen lights up
with pictures of me, toddler, teenager, and now... then the screen reads, "Will
you marry me?" After getting over the initial shock I look around to discover
many of my family members, friends, and others all gathered to view the
beautiful moment!

The day I was proposed to was one of the happiest days of my life. After
spending the day together watching a movie, my boyfriend took me blindfolded
into the bedroom. When I opened my eyes there was the whole room lit with
candles. He began to kiss me and well you can imagine the rest. He asked me if I
loved him, I responded with all my heart. He then took me at that moment to the
beach. It was a chilly April evening. There on a rock, over looking the ocean
and under the moonlight, he got down on one knee. He read me a poem he had made.
The last line of the poem asked me to marry him. He pulled out a ring and there
was the most beautiful ring I'd ever seen. It brings a smile to my face every
time I remember that evening. He definitely saved the best for last.

Vacation
of a Lifetime
My boyfriend and I had been dating for about 3 years, and he finally gave into
my idea of going on vacation together. He said one of his close friends was a
travel agent and that I wouldn't have to worry about planning anything. Finally
our little get-away came around, and all I knew was that we were going to a
beach somewhere. When we arrived I couldn't believe my eyes! The room was
absolutely gorgeous and incredibly romantic. That night we just hung out at the
beach and didn't do much. But, the next morning I got more than I ever bargained
for. When I woke up, I noticed my boyfriend wasn't next to me. So I got up and
started to look around the room until I saw a path of rose petals leading out on
the balcony. I followed the trail and when I looked out the balcony I saw the
words “Will You Marry Me?” sketched out in the sand right outside, below me.
Then my boyfriend emerged from the room and onto the balcony (dressed in tux and
all!) with a diamond ring. He asked if I would make him the happiest man alive
by growing old with him, and I said yes. It was the most romantic thing he had
ever done for me. The rest of our vacation was fabulous as we celebrated our
love and up-coming life together.

Valentine Proposal
On Valentine's Day 2004, my boyfriend and I had a low key dinner and watched a
movie together. We'd been together for 5 years and were completely broke, so we
didn't have any big plans for Valentine's Day. I gave him his gift and he handed
me a little stuffed lion (I love lions) and I thought we were done. At about
11:00pm he asked me if I wanted the rest of my gift. I was a little confused,
especially when he said, "It was too big to fit in the house so you have to go
into the backyard." I started walking out through our pitch black kitchen and
was peeking through the window over our kitchen sink only to see "Will You Marry
Me?" lit up in red and white Christmas lights on our back fence. I stopped dead
in my tracked and when I turned around, Chris was on one knee and was holding up
my dream engagement ring. I was speechless as he made a little speech and
slipped the ring on my finger. I was shaking and crying when I finally realized
what had happened...I said yes of course!!

Velvet
Rose Ring Box
I took my love out to dinner on Valentine’s Day at our favorite restaurant. Not
wanting to spoil the surprise I had set up, I had secretly slipped away during
the day and left 6 real red roses and 6 fake 'Velvet Rose Ring Box' roses at the
restaurant, marking the 'special' one so the waiter would know which one he
should get last. I had the waiter leave a vase on the table and alternate
bringing out real red roses and the fake red ones one at a time. Each of the
fake roses had a small poem folded up inside for him to read. By the time we
reached dessert, he had 6 real red roses and 5 fake ones. We shared some
strawberries in port wine and just as we finished feeding one another the final
rose came out. Inside I had put a silver claddagh promise ring for him, to match
the promise ring he had given me on our 1 yr anniversary. He loved it and still
wears it every day! You can get the 'Velvet Rose Ring Boxes' in sets of 12 from
Oriental Trading Co.--they don't cost much and are very creative.

Week-Long Proposal
My boyfriend and I had been dating for a of couple months. We had a miscarriage
and were both very upset. However, he was handling it better than I was. One
Monday night, he told me that on Friday he had something to ask me. I stayed
wondering all week. He would drop hints like, "You'll really like this," and "I
know something you don't know." This really bugged me. Friday came around and he
stayed on me all day about it. Around 8:00 p.m., he asked me if I was ready. I
told him I was and he told me to wait just a minute. I laid down on the bed
waiting until he came in with his jacket on. This didn’t make much sense,
because it was July. I sat Indian style on the edge of the bed and he told me to
close my eyes. I did. He said, "Ok, check this out." I opened my eyes and he was
on one knee with the ring in the box in his hand. I started crying and said yes.
We are planning to be married on April 24, 2004. This will be exactly 1 year and

What's
Your Perfect Date?
About 1 year into our relationship, my boyfriend asked me what my idea of a
perfect date was. I wanted to know his as well, so we both wrote ours down on
index cards. A year and a half later, he blindfolded me and drove me somewhere
far away. He then helped me out of the car and took me into a room with romantic
music playing. When he took off the blindfold, I saw the most beautiful thing.
He had taken me on my idea of my 'perfect date.' It was in a hotel overlooking
the beach. He rented out the ballroom, and had one single round table near the
HUGE picture window overlooking the ocean. The waves were crashing against the
rocks and the sun was setting. There were candles around the room, and rose
petals all over. On the table were my two favorite roses, an Equadorian Pailine
rose, and a red rose. We had a candle light dinner with champagne. We then
danced to our song, and after that he got down on one knee and proposed!

to pick all of us up and drove us to the restaurant. When we walked in, we were
led back to a private room, where 20 of our closest friends and family were
already seated at the table waiting for us (he had called and changed the
reservations I had made). There were 1 dozen red roses on my place setting and
"Try Me" by James Brown played in the background. He got on his knee in front of
everyone and asked me to marry him. Needless to say, our wedding is 4 months

Women
Can Ask Too!
I decided to propose to my boyfriend not because I was tired of waiting for him
to ask (we'd only known each other 8 months at this time), but I wanted to give
him the surprise of his lifetime and really prove to him how I felt. I had a
book of sexy coupons he'd given me at Christmas and at the back there were a few
blank ones. They said "I will..." and then I filled in "make you the happiest
women on Earth."
In early January we went up a mountain and tried snowboarding for the first time
together. After discussing with my parents what I planned to do (I didn't want
my dad missing out on getting asked for his "approval") I decided to go for it.
With the coupon in my pocket, I told my boyfriend I wanted to go for a walk in
the snow.
I told him to turn around and said I wanted to cash in a coupon. I handed it to
him with his back to me and got down on one knee. When he turned around I
proposed.
Trust me... it works! He said yes, cried a little, and we're now in the process
of planning our wedding. Don't be afraid to go against what's traditional!

hearts all over your front yard and a large sign with your choice of saying in
the yard. They do it between 12am and 5:30am in the morning while normal people
are sleep. I told him to call them and get this done then dress in his best
outfit with the ring and dozen roses. I also told him to stand in the yard
amongst the yard decor and call her from his cell phone to tell her to look out
the window. There he would be standing for her to see first thing in the morning
next to a sign asking her to marry him!

Young &
In Love
Well, I'm in high school and I’m always looking for ideas to make the girl I
love feel special. After we broke up, we waited a while before decided we missed
each other. So on our "should be" 7 month anniversary, she was doing make-up for
a play I was acting in (it was a dress rehearsal). I asked a cast member to have
her come out on stage, which when she did, all she saw was me sitting with only
the house lights on. She sat down and we talked a bit, small talk, before I
asked her if she still felt the same way about me. She said yes, so with that I
looked into her eyes, scratched my chin (my signal) and my theatre director
brought the lights up, till the stage was flooded with light, and then brought a
blue spotlight on me and her. He played our song, and I grabbed a fake rose from
my secret spot out of her view. I presented the rose and told her I would love
her until it died. I asked her to be mine, and she agreed. We kissed, and it was
beautiful. During all of this, the rest of the cast hid in the seats and clapped
at our romance. Needless to say the girl was ecstatic.

Your Own
Cinderella Story
Okay men, ready to make your woman feel like a princess? Take a video camera and
enlist some friends and/or family members for help (make sure they keep it
secret). Get a pretty pair of shoes (in her size!), a tiara (crown) and the
story book of Cinderella! You will also need a video camera! Have a friend tape
you being "Prince Charming" taking one of the shoes around to your
friend/coworker/neighbor/etc.. trying to find your princess! They pretend like
it won't fit and as you continue on your journey. When you leave their home they
should say on tape, "Come back, I'm the one for you!" etc. So it is fun loving.
When finished tell your woman you have a surprise for her! Pop the tape in and
after some laughs and at the end of the tape bring out the shoes! Put the shoe
on her and tell her that she is the one! Then bring her out flower(s), the crown
and the storybook (or scrapbook you have made of you two in Cinderella theme
pages). You will definitely steal her heart! Then maybe you should take her out
to dinner, have dinner already made or maybe even proprose?!?!
