I get musically inspired now and then, my ahem, illustrious rock n roll lifestyle starte when Martin Smit asked me to join his infamous Abstract Evil Barbee 9named, incidently, after a strip I was doing in the first incarnation of Get The Funk Out magazine)...After a year or so we parted ways, AEB went on to bring out a rather good album After AEB, Clifford Swindells and I formed Atmosphere Control Unit. After going through a few guitarists to bolster our predominantly electronic sound we recruited St J and after several successful live gigs hit the studio. The result was 'Darklord', unfortunately, Clifford was diagnosed with sickle cell leukemia and passed away on August 28th 2004. The album has hung in limbo ever since...maybe one day...
Another musical project, the Northumbrian Noseflute Quintet raised it's snotty head. NUNFQ was basically an experimental project utilizing various backing tracks, a dj and a number of live instruments, a couple of gigs at the immortal Abelarde Sanction went down, um, drunkenly well. Twas good, was fun but imploded under the weight of ego's therein, hehehehe.A new project/collective - Los Chapocabros stumbled bravely from the wreckage, but soon evaporated into the ether. Since there's been Machineries of Joy,Behind Eternity, Fidgety With Claws and my solo stuff..Crawlspace - no link as yet.
Apart from that I crop up dj-ing dodgy indie/freak beat/garage/alternative sets which generally turn out to be floor-clearers....I struggled briefly with trying to launch my own once nightly club - Anoraks- early in 2004 but the obscurity of the music didn't do much for a steady stream of punters, Kraut Rock evenings aside!hahahaha!... I'm available for weddings, barmitzvahs and the occasional bloody sacrificial rite...
