| There was Johnson, Bowe, Seton and Brock, and all the rest of the 'Group A' flock. These old-timers had been there many a day, and no one was going to take their title away. Then one day a rumble went through the hord, "Who's is this upstart from Formula Ford?" He was young, handsome, and lightning fast, and the old-timers said "He will never get past!!!", "He's a one lap wonder, he can't win a race!!!" But he was soon to wipe that smile from their face. He sat on the pole at Sandown and the Mount and the old-timers said "That really don't count!!" Jeff Grech said "That's talent I've rarely seen, I want him as a member of the Holden Race Team!" Now HRT had the tyres, the chassis and the engines made the right sound, the final ingredient was the Dynamic "CRAIG LOWNDES!" Lowndes made it clear through thick and thin the Shell Touring car title he wanted to Win! When the season commenced he was true to his word and suddenly the old-timers could barely be heard! He won round after round with lots of ease, the die-hard Holden fans this really did please! The Ford drivers screamed "He's too fast slow him down!!!" All the crew just looked at them and then frowned. Now Lowndes was real quick and Grech was a star, so he decided to build him a new "Supercar!!!" The new car appeared, all draped in a tarp...to hide this wonder from the peering Ford lark. The new car was awesome, Lowndes drove it Flat Stick, He not only won but he had several hat-tricks! Across this great nation fans rejoiced at Grech's bid, Holden fans had a new legend........................Craig Lowndes.....THE KICK ASS KID! By Mandy Ross 1996 |
