Angol nyelvű dialógusok

Néhány példa a szituációk feldolgozására

11.
"Hello. Is this the World Bank?"
"Unfortunately, not. This is a private number. You misdialled."
"Oh. Sorry."
"It's all right."

12.

"Mr. Hopkins?"
"Sorry. You've got the wrong number."

13.

"Can I speak to Monica Lewinsky, please?"
"Sorry, she is not in yet. Do you want to leave a message?"
"No, I'd rather call her back later."
"Okay."

14.

"Hi. Is Monica there?"
"No. I'm her mother. Who's speaking?"
"Never mind. Wrong number."

15.
"Good afternoon. I'd like to talk to Mr. Watkins."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Watkins is not available right now. Can I take a message?"
"Well, yes. Would you please tell him that Fred called?"
"Certainly."
"It's about the insurance claim. It's urgent."
"Of course."
"Thank you very much, indeed."
"No problem."

16.
"Hello?"
"Hello. Thompson Computers. Can I help you?"
"Yes! I would like to ask a question about the Internet connection."
"I see. Please hold on, I'm putting you through to our help desk."
"Thank you."
"Sure."

17.
"Thompson Computers?"
"Yes, but I don't speak English."
"You don't? Your English sounds excellent."
"I do not speak English. Wait, I'll call somebody who speaks English."
"Thank you."

2. szituáció: egy külföldi kérdez valamit az utcán

21.
"Excuse me. Could you help me?"
"I'll try. What's the matter?"
"Could you show me on the map where I am right now?"
"Let me see. Well, I think we are here."
"Oh, thanks a lot."
"You're welcome."

22.
"Excuse me, is there any pharmacy near here?"
"I think, there is one. Walk two blocks down, and then take a left."
"Over there?"
"That's right. You can't miss it."

23.
"Excuse me, which way to go to the Opera?"
"Sorry, I'm a stranger myself. Ask somebody who knows this place."
"Well, thank you anyway."
"Good luck."

3. szituáció: megszólítunk egy gyámoltalan külföldit

31.
"Can I help you?"
"Yes. I want to know where the market is."
"The market? It's right there."
"Oh, good. Thanks."

32.
"Got lost?"
"Yes, it seems. I'm looking for the concert hall."
"Well, it's in the opposite end of the town."
"Oh. How can I get there?"
"I have a map, let me show you."
"Thank you."
"So. We are here. The concert hall is here."
"Is it very far?"
"I'm afraid, it is. But don't worry, you can take the metro."
"The metro?"
"Well, you may call it the underground or the subway. We call it the metro. Anyway, you take it, and here, at this point you change to the number seven bus."
"It sounds rather complicated."
"It's really not. The nearest metro station is over the corner. When you get there, ask again."

33.
"Confused with the map, madam?"
"Yes. I can't find my way to the National Museum."
"It's not very far. You know what? I've got some time, I will show you."
"Oh, it's very kind of you."
"Well, I'm out of work, so why not? In the meantime we can discuss the world economic crisis."

(És egy példa a haladóbb szintre. Két külföldi beszélget.)

49.
"You know, Hungarians are really funny."
"What do you mean?"
"When they bounce into each other, they often say, 'see you'."
"You're kidding, right?"
"Honest to God. But that's not all. When they leave, sometimes they say, 'hello'. And I'm not making this up."
"Strange. I've heard Bulgarians nod to mean no and shake their heads to mean yes."
"Hey, this is Eastern Europe."
"Sure it is. No wonder they get into fights so often."
