USB (Universal Serial Bus) is a connection that can connect almost anything to your computer i.e. Printers, Scanners and Modems. There are two types of USB 1.1 and 2.0. These different versions are based on speed. 2.0 being faster than 1.1. USB is backward compatible therefore the new USB 2.0 will work with the older USB 1.1 and visa versa.
Because the USB supplies a small amount of power smaller devices like a Modem and Camera don’t need an external power supply, you can even get devices like a cup warmer and a desk light!
Also USB is called Hot Swap which means you can connect and de-connect devices whilst the computer is switched on and it’ll recognise the new device plugged in.
