Mousse (MÜS!) Adventures
Ryan told us about some mousse he'd gotten at a local place, that was chocolate with cinnamon liqueur. We had trouble finding it, so we decided to just make our own.
Chocolate Mousse with Cinnamon Liqueur
2005.03.19 -- As our first try, this came out well. We used a recipe for basic rum chocolate mousse, substituting cinnamon liqueur for the rum. The cinnamon flavor was much more obvious after the mousse had been chilled. Ryan says it was good, but not quite what he'd gotten. We'll have to try again sometime and make it denser.
Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse
2005.03.26 -- Our second MÜS! adventure. This time the rum was replaced with hazelnut liqueur. We followed Ryan's suggestion to add the egg yolks to the mix. It turned out smoother than last time, and very highly tasty.
Chocolate Amaretto Mousse with and without Cherries
2005.04.02 -- Still working on the large jar of amaretto-soaked maraschino cherries that Greg and Myrna gifted us with at SuperCon at the beginning of February (Thanks!). We used some of the liqueur to make the mousse, and added chopped cherry bits to half of what we'd made. Not a favorite, but good.
