SPELLS

Far a lot of 'new' Pagans, spells area big reason for their interest, but spells only work if the spirituality is in place. A spell is like a wish and will only work if you believe in what you are doing. They also only tend to work it what you are asking for is 'natural', and generally 'right' within the great scheme of things. Pagans can't work miracles. The media has a tendency to concentrate a lot of attention on spells. so you'll see films and TV shows that have a large 'spell' element. This is solely because they make good TV, not because they area large port of Paganism.

BOOKS

There are a great many books available on Paganism; Minor Arcana produces a booklist for subscribers. Reading is a good way, to find out more about the various paths. Be selective in your reading - remember you're only getting someone else's point of view not something 'cast in stone' which you then must do or believe.

OTHER PEOPLE

Friends- some will understand and be interested, and some won't. This would be the same whatever new interest you took up.

Parents- some parents will be worried about your interest and are welcome to contact Minor Arcana for advice if they wish. (The postal and email addresses are at the end). It is important to talk to your parents and to try to explain where you're coming from and what paganism is all about. Impress them with your good sense and don't keep secrets. If anyone ever asks you to do something you don't want to do, or ore unhappy about, tell your parents and tell Minor Arcana. No Pagan should ever hove to do something that they don't agree with, or feel they should believe something that they don't really believe.

Teachers - many teachers don't know anything about Paganism and, once again, are welcome to contact the Youth Information Officer of the Pagan Federation for information or advice. You should show them the leaflets or books you have read, or talk to them to explain what it is all about. They will usually be prepared to learn from you!

IS THIS FOR ME?

Maybe, and maybe not. All teenagers tend to explore the world around them, to find out about different things. So explore, safely and sensibly, what Paganism is all about. You may find that, in a few months or years, you are no longer interested. There is never any obligation with Paganism, for any age.

WHICH PATH SHOULD I FOLLOW?

Again, that decision is entirely up to you. You need to collect information and make an informed decision, which you do not have to stick to, As you read more, and discover more, you might change your mind. No Pagan would mind that. If you want some 'instant' information on the major paths write for the Pagan Federation's information packs. Or contact Minor Arcana. Your path will always be your own, and all you need to do is create it for yourself.

WHERE SHOULD I GO FROM HERE?

Read, learn, think, - using common sense. Then, like every other Pagan, do it all again.
