CHOCOLATE NUT BREAD

Ingredients:

 

3 squares unsweetened chocolate

½ cup butter or margarine, softened

3 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 cup sugar

2 eggs, slightly beaten

1 cup milk

2 tsp vanilla

½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

 

Directions:

 

Over low heat, melt chocolate and butter, stirring occasionally until smooth.  Cool.  Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.  In a large bowl, beat eggs, sugar, milk and vanilla with a wooden spoon until blended.  Stir in dry ingredients until blended, then add chocolate mixture and stir until smooth.  Fold in nuts.  Either divide batter between 2 small loaf pans or put in 1 large pan.  Bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes (large pan will take longer to cook).  Cool for 5 minutes.  Turn out on a rack.
