Mike Singletary



Mike Singletary was born October 9, 1958 in Houston, Texas. He went to college at Baylor University where he was selected to the All-SWC Team of the 1970s, and earned All-American Honors both his junior and senior years. While at Baylor he averaged 15 tackles a game and made a school record of 232 tackles in 1978.

After being drafted by the Bears in the second round it only took him seven games until he started on the team. He went on to be named rookie of the year. Through his career he started 172 games in 12 seasons which is the second most in club history.

  • Was Bears second round draft pick in 1981.
  • 1488 tackles (885 solo), 51 passes defensed, 12 fumble recoveries, 7 interceptions.
  • Made the All-Pro team 8 times, 1983-1989,1991.
  • Made All-NFC 9 years in a row, 1983-1991
  • Selected to 10 straight Pro Bowls.
  • Was Defensive player of the year in 1985 and 1988.
