Meneka Gandhi : Former model, she was also an editor of Surya India which crusaded against the Janata government in the '70s. Her expose of Jagjivan Ram's son's escapades provided much ammunition for the congress party which stormed back to power. Estranged from her mother-in-law after Sanjay's death she joined the opposition. Was cabinet minister four times in three different governments. Today she has achieved fame as an activist for animal rights and conservation of nature.
